Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

More Winter

More weather that made it necessary to walk in the basement again this morning.  I didn't listen to any music today.  Stopped here and walked in place a few times to look out the door window wishing I could be outside taking a walk.
This picture hangs on the wall in the guest room.  It always makes me smile.
I walked just over 5 miles.

By lunch time it had stopped snowing and the temperature dropped lower as the day wore on.  Ken went out to clear the driveway with the snow blower AGAIN.

We went to the library and I got an audio book.  I don't usually like to listen to books but I thought it would be nice to listen to a book while I'm walking in the basement.  I'll probably be walking inside again tomorrow so I'll give it a try then.

After the library we went down to Brenda's for supper.  Nice to get back home to a nice warm house.

We've spent a lot of time today working on the puzzle.  This one is I think the hardest one we've ever done.  We are not going to bed tonight until it is finished.  We might be up all night. : )

I've put up some pictures of Ken's train layout on my picture blog.  For those of you who don't look at that blog the link to it is HERE.

Hope your day is a happy one.

Three Things I'm Thankful for Today
  1.  The snow blower
  2. Warm winter boots
  3. My computer

Comment relies:
Thinker - The Bible is made up of 66 books and is divided into 2 sections, the Old Testament and the New Testament. OT has 39 books and the NT has 27.  These are broken down into Chapters and Verses.
The OT is before Jesus and the NT is after.

  1. Can't wait to see your puzzle when it is finished. You will have to post a picture of it. I sure think Ken's train layout is neat. Listening to an audio book while you walk is a great idea! Have a wonderful evening working on that puzzle!

  4. I had that snowblower out too - a foot to 18" on the driveway , and 20" on the deck! Haven't had a winter like this in decades!

  5. The snowblower is getting a workout this year! We had snow again today, too, but then we expect it up here. I think listening to an audio book while walking inside would be a great way to spend the time.

  10. I love that giraffe picture. I have tried to listen to books on tape before but for some reason I just can't get into them. Stay warm today!

  11. Yes, I'm sure that a snow blower is definitely needed in your area. We got down to 6 degrees this morning ---with some flurries.. But--that is all for us today... I'd rather have snow than extreme cold --but Mother Nature is not listening to me right now. ha

Glad you can walk in your basement... That's a great alternative.

    Stay WARM.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  12. You are so committed! I need your willpower! We started a puzzle that has differently shaped pieces and is challenging. I think we'll be working on this one a while. We are supposed to get more snow today. I'm not tired of winter yet, but perhaps I would be if I were as committed to walking outside as you are. I have a treadmill and yes, it gets boring staring at the wall! Hope you stay warm and that the puzzle didn't keep you up all night!

  13. They are tossing around the "S" word in our forecast today. Yesterday it was in the 60s and today it is hovering around freezing.
I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the audio book. I once had a neighbor who listened to them as she ironed. Seemed like a good way to make the job go faster.
Hope you finished the puzzle without having to stay up all night.

  14. Hope you find some enjoyment in listening to a story while you walk in the house. I use audio books for many tasks, not just walking. Sometimes cleaning, laundry, whatever. And if I save the book for just those tasks, I look forward to doing these tasks because I want to listen to more of the story. Anyway, winter certainly is different in your area. Very very wintery.
