Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

A bit different today

Mixed the routine up a little bit today.  Didn't walk first thing in the morning.  Had breakfast first, then did a few things around the house.

At 9:30 when Ken left for HT I went for my walk.  I walked the farm loop.  Just wanted to see what was happening a little later in the day.  I thought that there would be more activity but I was wrong.  I saw less cars than usual and none of the cows or horses were down by the fences.  School was already started so there were no school buses driving around either.
I did see two farmers loading hay from a truck into the top of a barn and they said hi.

Off in the distance I thought I spotted a clothes line and when I zoomed in sure enough there it was. : )
Though I enjoyed my walk it just wasn't the same as my early morning walk.  Just something about early mornings.  It is just my favorite time of day.  Tomorrow it is back to an early morning walk. : )
Forgot to check my Striiv when I left so don't have the exact miles or steps.  I cut the walk a little short so it was probably only 5 miles.
When I got back home, I didn't go inside right away but sat out on my swing under the tree for a while.

After lunch I read and finished the book I was reading.  That's about all I did today.

Read in the local paper that the Travel Chanel has named Deep Creek Lake as one of the 10 America's best fall foliage road trips. : ) The lake is only 6 miles down the road from our house.  I should be able to get some really pretty pictures.  Lots of the trees have color already but still have a lot more color to come yet.
I made the local paper this weekend along with eight other women.  : )  Just a short piece talking about the book club.  In the picture we are holding the latest book we read, King Peggy.  That's me, top row on the left.
Well, that's it for today.
Hope everyone is enjoying their day.
happyone  : )

Take note of who said this quote!!!
Instead of comparing our lot with that of
those who are more fortunate than we are,
we should compare it with the lot of
the great majority of our fellow men.
It then appears that we are among the privileged.
~Helen Keller

  1. Love that Helen Keller quote! So many of us always feel we don't have enough, when we actually have TOO MUCH!

I'm interested in reading King Peggy. It is on the UMW Reading List for 2014 in the Leadership Category. That is a nice picture!

It appears that you will have a beautiful fall where you are!

  2. A great quote from a great woman. Your book looks like lots of fun. Did you like the book, "King Peggy?" Maybe I should request it from our library. I love the fall leaves. I'm with you - early, early morning is the best time, although Charly and I usually walk at night - except in the summer. You have a great life. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day!

  3. You've already made the paper? You're in! Funny how the difference of a few hours makes something more or less enjoyable. I would enjoy your later walk because I hate walking when there is a lot of traffic. Guess that Helen learned the secret of being content.

  4. At least you tried something different - but it seems as though the early morning walks are more enjoyable eh? :)

  5. I'm impressed that you already made the newspaper! Mary Jo

  6. The house in the picture with the clothesline is so pretty nestled into the hill like it appears to be.
You trees seem to be further along than ours. How neat that you are so close to the lake with the scenic fall colour. I look forward to your photos of that.
You look right at home in the newspaper photo.

  7. You definitely need to check out that place nearby for the foliage! I love this time of year, but it goes by so fast. This is the time of year I most wish I were retired and able to ramble around more.

You need some men in your book club! Ha-ha!!!!

Hello my friend.

I'm hoping you will leave a comment.
