Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Sunday

We limit God's power when we depend on our own.

II Corinthians 12:9
He said to me, My grace is sufficient for you,
for My power is made perfect in weakness.

Checked out the little country church up the road from where we live.  Though it was a very nice friendly church and we did sing some of the old hymns that I love, I feel that this too is not the church that God has picked out for us.  It was VERY small and everyone was about the same age.  As old or older then we are.  There were no young people or children about and it just felt strange.   So next week we will be off to another one.

I'm enjoying sitting out on the front porch this afternoon doing a little reading.
Here's what I get to look at.

Hope you get to enjoy a nice relaxing Sunday.

  1. Your view from your front porch is fabulous and green and country. I visited several churches before selecting the one I chose to attend in Jan. 2011. I felt happy that each church I visited had a lot to recommend it.

  3. Great pictures from your porch. I agree that a church with no families or children would seem strange. We usually have lots of children, families and babies at church - kind of noisy sometimes but you get used to it. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

  4. It must be very soothing to sit on your front porch in that scenic environment. Soak up that sunshine; you are becoming accustomed to your new life. MJ

  7. Good luck on a finding a church. A good one is hard to find. They are all so political these days. The minister in the one I grew up in has alienated most of the flock and they left for greener pastures. What's left is his loyal followers! My Grandmother poured her heart and soul in a little country church that her father founded. The conference decided to sell it. I guess it wasn't profitable for them! She peddled a many a bottle of Watkins vanilla flavoring for that church as well as tithing her 10%!! I'm glad she was not alive to see it happen. I pretty much lost faith in organized religion many years ago and follow my own path.

    PS. I am with you on the old hymns. I have no idea what they are singing these days! They don't touch my heart like the old ones do! I always cry when I hear them! My Grandma would sing them all the time. Whatever she was doing she was singing or humming hymns.
