Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Getting the house listed

I walked 6.1  miles around the lake yesterday in nice sunny weather.  Today I walked 5.8 miles in a misty very light rain on my connect the path route.  Everything was such a deep green color this morning.  I think the rain made things seem even greener and everything looked so pretty.  It was really breathtaking.

Both days I saw deer.  In the winter they blend right in and they are hard to see.  Now with so much green around they can hide well.  A couple of times we scared each other!

Ken has done a great job on the lower level of the house.  He has gotten all his stuff packed away and painted it a pretty blue.  It's a brand new room.

Late afternoon yesterday Terri, our realtor came over and we listed the house.  We went room by room deciding what to pack away to make the house look its best and hopefully have a quick sale.  She liked the house and said it was lovely but did say I had too much stuff sitting around.  So now Ken and I are decluttering most of my collections.  We had to take all the stuff down on top of the kitchen cabinets and my milk bottle collection on the white cabinet and nothing is left on top of the hutch either.   We did this in all the rooms.  It really does make the house look bigger but to me it looks very blah.  My personality is gone from it.  The For Sale sign goes up tomorrow and pictures of the house will be taken on Friday and by Saturday it will be in the multiple listings.

I wasn't on the computer AT ALL yesterday so I have a lot of catching up to do today.

I went to my knitting group this morning in the pouring rain.  I almost stayed home to do more work but then figured I won't have many more times I can go so I went.  It was nice to see everyone.  I didn't do a people count but there must have been about a dozen of us.  I knitted on a baby blanket.  Not for a church baby this time, but for a charity.

From knitting I picked up my friend Mary Jo and we went out for lunch to Ledo's.   We always enjoy our lunches out together.  : )

When I got back home Ken and I packed up a few more things and now we are taking a break for a while.  Lots to do but just thinking of our new house makes it all worth while. : )

Hope your Tuesday is a happy one.

  1. This is such an exciting time for you! Yes, our realtor told us we had too much "stuff" out as well. We just moved it all out into the garage.:-) That meant leaving the cars outside, which we don't like to do, but the house sold the first day it was listed! I hope yours will sell quickly!

  2. Enjoy this exciting time. You are selling at a good time, prices are up a bit but rates are still good.

Green is my favorite color so you know I like that photo! Art

  3. Yes, staged homes are sterile looking to me, too, but what fun you'll have setting up your world in your new home. That green is intensely beautiful.

  5. Oh all that green foliage looks so lovely. Arizona is beautiful too, but sometimes I do so long for green!!! It is hard to take down your own personal things when you sell a house and pack them away. I know. We have done it many times. I know you are looking forward to the new place though. Things sure are moving quickly for you. I know you will be able to sell soon. When my oldest daughter lived in Virginia, she lived in a town home much like yours and it was lovely and livable, so I am sure yours will sell! Have emailed you my address as requested. Thank you so much for whatever you are sending. I will be seeing little Eleanor for the first time when we go to San Diego on June 1, so will take the surprise to her then! You are so sweet. Thank you!

  7. I have been noticing and enjoying all of the beautiful shades of green here too. Everything looks so fresh.
Staged homes seem to be the way to go now. I agree with you that it looks kind of blah... kind of like a hotel room. I guess it does help a future buyer picture their own belongings in the house, so that's a good thing.
Ken sure didn't waste any time getting the lower level whipped into shape.

  9. That is what needed to happen. Your personality removed from the house!

People need to be able to see themselves in it.

It will sell fast I am sure.

  10. Guess that staging a house, for sale, is really a matter of removing our personality stamp. Got to let the house, be able to fit into a buyer's visions. :-)

    Good luck!

How is the buying the other house, going? All these things take a while, it seems.
