Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Two in a row

Didn't have to worry about ice this morning with a temperature of 49 degrees!!!  Got to walk lighter too with just a couple of layers on and no hat.  It was a cloudy morning with patches of fog here and there around the lake.  There were a few hot pockets of air around too.  I'd be walking and all of a sudden the air got really warm and after a short ways it was cooler again.  Still a thin coating of ice on the lake.
I liked the look of this long low hanging ribbon of cloud.  It reached about half way the length of the lake.
The wildlife stayed hidden this morning and very few people out around the lake too.
It was great walking in warmer weather.

Steps on my walk today were 12,942.
BTW - no bruises and I'm not sore at all from yesterday's little tumble. : )

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was recycling day and all down the road out back all the blue tubs were lined up and filled waiting to get collected.  Then the wind came and a lot of the recycling things blew out of the tubs and down the road.  Most everyone is at work and there I was so I picked up most of the stuff and got it back into the tubs.  I stuffed things in tightly so they wouldn't blow out again.  A lot of the stuff just blew away to who knows where but I got a good amount picked up.  Then I had to leave.
Had a hair appointment today to touch up those roots and just a trim of my bangs.  I brought the usual chocolate chippers for everyone, had a great hair wash and a nice catch up with Cheryl.
A few hours later when I came back home the recycling tubs were all empty and I didn't see any garbage around.  So either the stuff stayed in the tubs and it was all picked up or else everything blew out and away. : )
Ken has only one more day of work after today and it's not even a full day.  But today is a special day for us as well.  It's our anniversary!  41 years. : )
We are going out to Outback for dinner to celebrate.  We were going to combine both celebrations but decided we will go out for dinner tomorrow as well for the retirement celebration. : )
Ken's coworkers took him out for lunch at Olive Garden yesterday and gave him a card and a gift card to Lowe's for his retirement.
Then next week one day Ken has invited coworkers and friends to a happy hour at Rams Head which I can go to also.
I am going to go and read for a while until Ken comes home and we go out to celebrate.
Hope your day has been a happy day with lots of sunshine.
Yes, you are a sweetheart for picking up the wayward recyclables. You are an asset to your community in so many ways and an inspiration to me as well.
Enjoy your two dinners out. Fun times for sure :). Happy Anniversary to you both.
Interesting that these 2 milestones, are happening, at about the same time. :-)
Happy Anniversary. Now you'll be able to celebrate Retirement Day at the same time each year. I have friends who have retired who say they are so busy they can't imagine how they found time to go to work as well and I'm sure Ken will be the same. Enjoy your meal out!
Well, somehow I missed this post on Wednesday, and it was even a day for special wishes! Congratulations on 41 years of marriage!
