Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Back in touch

The fog was still around for my walk this morning and it was a warm 56 degrees.  I walked around the lake.  For a few short minutes it looked liked the sun was trying to come out, a little bit of pink could be seen but then it disappeared again.

The deer have come back or at least out of hiding.  I saw at least 10 of them.  Not sure of the count because the first few I saw it was still dark out and I could just see the whites of their tails as they ran away.

There were quite a lot of people out around the lake considering the weather and it is Monday.

The other day I mentioned there were 9 footbridges I walked over on the connect the path route.  The route around the lake has 7 of them.  Before I even get to the lake I walk over 5 and there are 2 at the lake, the red one and the cement one.  Then there are 7 short little wooden bridges like this which just go over a low wet area.  All the bridges are well maintained.
I walked through the apartments again on the way home and also through the liquor parking lot to see if there were any coins.   There was, I found a nickel.
I walked 6.4 miles.

Ken is home from work today taking a sick day.  He has a head cold.  He's been spending most of the day reading.

The fog is now gone but it is still cloudy and pretty dreary outside.

We finished the puzzle yesterday and took I it apart this morning.  I thought that was going to be the end of jigsaw puzzles for a while but when I put this one away another one caught my eye, so we are doing another one.  The one we started now is all comic books, but it should go fast because there are only 500 pieces in it.
I'm had to bake another loaf of bread in the bread machine.  We seem to be going through a lot of bread lately.

The major accomplishment for me today was getting the bathroom cleaned.  I don't mind cleaning sinks and toilets but I HATE cleaning our huge shower.  The whole thing is tile and I just hate it.  I'm sure I've mentioned that before!! : )
Here it is, and I'm happy to say it is now sparkling clean once again.
I would rather have my old claw foot bathtub with a shower curtain around it like at the old house!!

I have a friend Sara-Jane who I've known since we worked together for about a year in our first jobs after high school.  I left to get married and moved away but we kept in touch for years with calls and letters afterwards and visited when I got back to town.  But then we stopped keeping in touch for the last 5 years or so, it may be even longer than that.  Anyway, I sent her and her husband a Christmas card with my email address and just today I got an email from her. : )  I was so happy to hear from her and to be back in touch once again.  It made my day.

I finally got all those recipes moved over to Ziplist.  Now my next big computer project is to get all my books listed over at TheLibraryThing.  Some books have to be deleted because I know longer have them so it will take some time to get everything sorted out.

We've been enjoying watching a British show called Clatterford from Netflix.  It's about a bunch of women in a women's club in an English village . They are all a bit eccentric in their own way and its is pretty funny.  Has anyone else watched this show before?

That's about it for today.
Hope your Monday is a happy one.

long enough to take in and record new surroundings.

Tile is NOT my favorite thing to clean, either! When we built this house, we didn't have any tile at all anywhere!

Now that quote could be your signature quote! So good.

How fun to be in touch again with a friend. This has happened to me once or twice. How I wish that we would continue to stay in touch, but we fall off again.

Clatterford sounds like just the sort of program I would enjoy. Thanks for mentioning it!

I have seasons 1 and 2 of Clatterford. I need to pull them out and watch them again! Thanks for reminding me. I love British TV shows. Just received New Tricks season 8 and Midsommers Murders set 7 & 8 today. I'm set for the week! I can't believe what I pay for cable and there is never anything on TV!

It is always fun to get back in touch with old friends. Do you use facebook at all? I started out thinking facebook was kind of a fun way to get back in touch, but now I am quite down on facebook and don't go there muchat all. Blogging and plain old email or snail mail are much I think. I think I would like that show you are watching. I have been enjoying Downton Abbey. Are you watching that? Glad you got your bathroom cleaned. That is on my chore list for tonight. Hope your hubby gets feeling better soon. I love those puzzles you have been working on. Have an enjoyable evening.

I just caught up on your blog. I felt like I hung out with you for a while :)

Today started off nice and mild but it morphed into a cold and gloomy day. Still, there was beauty. Right?

Happy night. Hope Ken feels better soon.

I agree with you on disliking the shower cleaning. I don't care for that job at all. I have tried many things to get the glass doors clean and have yet to find anything that works. What do you use? Yours look very sparkly.
So nice that you re-connected with Sara Jane. It is much easier to keep in contact with people now with all of this new technology.
Hope Ken is feeling better soon.

That is the cleanest shower I ever saw!
Hope Ken is feeling better.
You two seem to have the same taste in TV shows and movies. That would be helpful in so many relationships.
It is great that you and Sara Jane are back in touch. It is so wonderful when that happens.
Enjoy your week.
By the way, on a personal note, my
vacant space is newly rented out. Thank goodness! MJ

HI, We have had your FOG (LOTS of it) all day long and rain for days and days it seems. NOW--we have freezing rain tonight and the temp is about 29 degrees.... I wanted winter back ---but not sure, I wanted freezing rain... ha ha

Glad you caught up with an old friend. That is neat.

Hugs,

I have never seen Clatterford but I really enjoy the British comedies!

I hate cleaning my bathroom too!

Prevention works for me - that is, in cleaning the shower tiles and glass doors. After showering we rinse the whole shower off, moving our hand-held shower head from top to bottom in each section. Then after we towel off, we go barefooted back into the shower armed with a micro-fiber cloth and wipe off the glass doors and then the walls. Wring out the cloth as needed while wiping down, then hang the cloth to air-dry.

It's good that Ken stayed home, to let his body fight off that cold!

Never heard of 'Clatterford' but I wrote it down! Sounds like a fun tape to rent!!! Anything in an English village is super, by me! :-)
