Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

A slip in the water

40 degrees and the sun stayed out after it came up.  The sunrise was especially beautiful this morning.

I walked around the lake and once again I stayed on lower path all the way around and went off on the little trails whenever I could.  At one part on a trail where it went right down to the water there wasn't much of a trail left because the water level is high.  There were a few roots growing and being wet they were very slippery.  I looked at it, thought about turning back then said,  I'll just be careful.  Well I wasn't careful enough, I slipped and down I went landing on my backside with my feet going right in the water!!  I didn't get hurt just wet!  Thankfully it wasn't one of those real cold mornings.  I just continued on my walk with wet feet!  Of course I had to take a picture of where I slipped.
Surprisingly I didn't see any deer today again.  Lots of geese around and during the winter they usually stay in large groups but today they seemed to be starting to pair off already.  I saw some geese chasing others away and a few little scuffles between them.
With all the leaves off the trees during winter I notice a lot of birds nests.

After leaving the lake I walked down the road and then through the apartments and townhouses on the other side of the Giant again before getting back home.

My walk today was 13,431 steps.
Sunrise 7:27  No surprise there!!
Sunset 5:04
My plan to go up to the loft and work up there right after breakfast never did happen.  I looked at the puzzle sitting on the table and did a little of that and then I saw my book sitting on the arm of the chair and sat down and read that for a while.  I received a couple of phone calls and then before I knew it, it was lunch time.

I've been saying that I have to move over my recipes from MealsMatter to Ziplist by  January 15 when MealsMatter will no longer be available and now there are only 5 days left so I've spent awhile at the computer doing that and will continue doing that latter.  It is so nice being able to cut and paste so I don't have to type all the recipes in.

I also hung my clothes out on the line because it was a sunny day in the 40's.  Still have to get them in and fold them.  There are four of Ken's shirts out there which means a little ironing needs to be done yet!

So though I didn't do my plan for the day I was still busy and got stuff done.

Hope your day was and continues to be a good one.

Vee - We thought the exact same thing about the puzzle pieces!

  1. Good heavens! That must have let you know that you were alive...wet feet for all those steps! Glad that you were not hurt, but and a little unsettling to think how cold you might have been. Ironing shirts...almost a thing of the past...

  2. That is a beautiful photo of the sunrise over the water. You are a real trooper to continue walking despite having wet feet! Glad you weren't injured in the fall.

  3. Warm here today also... I actually cleaned windows inside and out today... Crazy weather!!!!

The puzzle and book definitely seem more appealing than cleaning the loft... ha ha.. I'm sure you'll get to that loft SOMEDAY.... One thing about the loft, it will be there waiting for you --with no time-table... ha

  4. I am glad you didn't get hurt when you fell.

  5. Thankfully you had no injuries when you slipped! But - I don't like wet feet! That usually means they are cold, and I don't like cold feet, either.:-)

  6. I found it amusing that you were talking about how warm it was at 40degrees. Here in Arizona, we all freeze if its much below 70. Its all in what you get used to. Glad you weren't hurt when you slipped. I commend you for finishing your walk with wet feet!

  7. I'm glad you didn't hurt yourself when you slipped and that you weren't shook up. I did the same thing myself the other day in the garden and as I lay there briefly I wondered if it was the start of getting old and doddery. But then I realised that not only was my bottom getting wet but that there was nothing wrong with me so I scrambled up and went to change my clothes. How different from the days of my youth when I thought nothing of being thrown to the floor during Judo practice and even falling off horses wasn't that big a deal.

  8. What a pretty shot! A beautiful sky and reflection. I am glad you were ok and were not hurt from the fall. Wishing you a happy weekend!

  9. Slipped.... There..... -sigh-

You know what I want to say to you. You know. You know. You know. -sigh-

But I'll be good, and I won't... Say it.

But you know it, even if I don't say it. -chuckle-

  10. I'm thankful you weren't hurt when you slipped into the water. I'm sure that cold water sent a shock wave through you.
I saw the sunrise this morning from my kitchen window and thought of you. MJ

  11. I've done that! Of course you had to go take a look! Glad you won't hurt - wet heals more quickly than hurt.
