Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

A cold start

The thermometer said it was 21 degrees out this morning when I left for my walk.  There was no wind at all so it didn't feel that cold.  When I got home it had already climbed to 28.
I walked around the lake and again I stayed to the lower path and walked some trails in the woods.  I found a new one that I hadn't walked before.  These trails aren't long just  little jaunts off the path.  Leaving the lake I walked home through the townhouses and apartments on the other side of the Giant from where I live.  Then walked up the street and home.
The usual people out around the lake, no new faces today.
A couple of pictures at the lake this morning.
Doesn't it look cold ?

I took 12,236 steps on this walk.
Sunrise 7:27 AGAIN
Sunset 5:02
There was no knitting the last two weeks because of Christmas and New Years so it was nice to meet up again with my knitting friends.  There were a dozen of us there.
I made a few weave-it squares.

It warmed up to a sunny 55 degrees this afternoon.  Hard to believe after the cold start.

I had plans to start on the loft this afternoon but never got around to it.  I did some work on the computer and then Dave, a friend of ours called and I ended up talking to him for quite awhile.

We bought a couple more puzzles to do and are working on one of them.  It's another fun picture but only 750 pieces this time.  We are already just about done and will probably finish it tonight.

Hope all is well in your part of the world.
Happyone : )

  1. It does look cold in the pictures.

I love working puzzles. I need to get on out and start working on it.

  2. I love working jigsaw puzzles. There are several we have framed for hanging on the wall. My favorite, though, is one of Ssnta, napping in front of the fireplace, after his Christmas Eve shift.

What a true quote from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe!

  3. I really love your quote today. Yes, those pictures do look cold. I am wondering what kind of loom you use for your weave it squares. I have been doing some loom knitting and enjoying that lately but would like to try weave it squares. I loved the last baby blanket you made for someone at your church and would like to make one like that for my new little granddaughter who will be coming in May. Have a great afternoon and evening!

  4. I haven't done a puzzle in so long!! Now I want to go get one :)

  5. It was nice to see everyone after our long break.

  6. It looks very cold and yet it warmed up to 55...amazing. I have no idea how warm it got here as I was up to my elbows in the final packing up of Christmas.

Perhaps it's time for me to set up a puzzle table...if I could only think where. =D

  7. Hope you all get the warm-up that we are beginning to get this week. Today, it started out cold (20's) --but got up to almost 50.. Supposed to even be warmer the next several days--although we may get some rain (which we need).

    Enjoy your puzzles....

  8. What a brave one you are. 21 degrees...ummm cold! I go out and to let my car run 10 minutes before I really must get in...how is that for brave.

  9. "Cold" - a perfect description!
I got a new jigsaw puzzle for Christmas. Looking forward to putting it together. MJ

  10. "Frosty man, frosty" but I love that look.
