Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A happy day

What a delightful morning out there today for my walk.  It was a chilly 43 degrees, but it was very still and warmed up a bit after the sun came up. This is my favorite kind of weather for walking and I'm never cold once I get to walking.  Well, I shouldn't say never - sometimes when it is in the teens I do get a bit chilly.
I walked around the lake and there was a mist over the water.
I've mentioned before that I often see these black and white ducks hanging around together.  When I see them they are always together.  Thought what a pretty picture they made swimming around the lake this morning.
Down the end of the lake on the footbridge I looked down and saw these two white ducks down below.  I zoomed in a bit to get a better picture.  Except for the white duck with the black one these are the only other two white ducks I've seen at the lake.
I got all the way around the lake and was just thinking that I hadn't seen any deer when six of them walked out of the woods just up in front of me.  As soon as they saw me they all turned around and went back in the woods.

Walking out of the shade and coming into the sun and feeling it shining on me is such a wonderful pleasant feeling.  I just can't help smiling and being thankful for another day. : )

I walked 6.5 miles.

A day at home today doing a bit of cleaning and this and that around the house.  Many of you know that I hang my laundry outside to dry and don't use my dryer.  I don't have a yard so have to hang them on my deck.  I've taken pictures standing on the deck before of the clothes drying but this time took one from down below standing in the driveway.
Here is a picture of my gramma's desk that I moved into our bedroom a little while ago.  The wall above looked a little bare so I hung the pretty oil painting above the desk.  The painting is a gift that Kathy my SIL gave us when we moved into the first house we bought in 1980.  I've always loved the painting.  I'd love to go take a walk down the road in it.
The picture on the desk is my gramma, a sweet lady who was gentle, kind and a wonderful grandmother (dad's mom.) : )
These two paintings are paint by numbers that I painted when we first got married in 1972.  Didn't have much money back then so painted these so we'd have something to hang on the walls.  I can't believe I still have them.  I hung them up in the little bathroom upstairs.  The one on the right has a sign in the bag she's carrying that says 'cookies.'  : )
After supper we went to LL Bean and I got a pair of jeans.  I got a pair there because they are thick and are flannel lined and thought they would be good work pants up at Happy Trails when the weather turns colder.  With a pair of tights underneath, I should stay nice and warm.  The smallest size they had was a 6 so they are a bit big and they make me look like I've gained about ten pounds but they will be good for working in.  It feels weird having pants that go to my waist instead of the low rise.  Feels like they are under my armpits like old men wear. : )

From there we stopped at the old house and loaded up the truck of stuff to take up to Happy Trails tomorrow.  We had to cancel the appointment with the realtor for tomorrow afternoon because Ken has to be at work and just can't take off tomorrow.  We will leave tomorrow for Happy Trails after Ken gets home from work so we'll be getting there in the dark but will have the whole day there Saturday.

When I said we loaded up the truck I should have said Ken did because I walked over to my friend Lin's house and visited with her.  She is the friend who calls me in the mornings when she's in town while I'm walking and we talk and walk for a mile or two.  It was nice to talk to her in person for a change. : )
She made me laugh because when I walked over to her house she was sitting on her deck looking in the window of her house.  I laughed and asked her what she was doing.  She said watching television from outside because it was too nice to be inside.  Don't you just have to love a friend like that!? : )

We stopped at the store on the way home to get in a new supply of ice cream.  It was on sale so we picked up a few extra.
I just finished eating some chocolate chip.  Taking a break from television to write this post.  Off I go now to finish watching the second episode of Lilies.

Hope you had sunshiny day and if you think you didn't, count your blessings and you will see that you did indeed have a good day. : )

What a nice long post! I dry my clothes outside also and I think I'm the only one in this little town that does.
The desk is beautiful!

I sit on the deck and listen to the radio, but I haven't watched the tv from there. Sounds like a great idea. I'm grinning at your description of the jeans. They will keep you warm and that will be a good thing. However, I don't think you'll be willing to wear them. Ha!

You will love those flannel lined jeans from LL Bean. I have had their flannel lined pants and they are wonderful. A huge difference over regular pants. What a difference a thin layer of flannel makes. And you do feel like you are wearing fat pants, but once you wear them on a day when you need them, you really won't care a bit.

I like how you have added your grandma's desk and photo to your bedroom. A sweet way to keep her close to you.
The jean description made me laugh, but they do sound comfy.
Happy trails to you :).

Such a cute zoom-in pic of the white ducks! It makes me chuckle. Wonder what they think, if they look up?

Oh my golly gosh!!! -gigggles- Look at that *horrrrrror*, of your clothes drying on lines!!! LOL.

Mmmm, heard any more from that *sweet gal,* who had such a fit about you hanging your wash out to dry? -chuckle- You must still be watching the adgendas of upcoming owners meetings, though.

More peeks into your home. I love such. Just love 'em. They let us kind-of-know our bogging friends, better. :-)
