Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

The Star-Spangled Banner

Did you know that Francis Scott Key wrote a second stanza to The Star-Spangled Banner?

Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven-rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must when our cause it is just.
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Philippians 3:20
For our citizenship is in heaven,
from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior,
the Lord Jesus Christ.

Have a blessed Sunday.
Smile often. : )

I have always liked that verse, though one very rarely hears it sung. Our school sang it for special programs.

The song isn't even in our hymnbook at church. Last year I had that verse printed in the order of service bulletin so we could sing it along with the usual verse.
People complain about our losses of liberty; I say, are we using the freedoms we still have left?
Great post today; thanks!

We usually sing all the verses of the Star Spangled Banner in church around the Fourth of July. It is a beautiful and inspired anthem! Enjoy the week to come!
