Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A lovely backyard

It was 68 degrees this morning, cloudy, and humid and very still - not a breeze to be felt.  The first of the paths I came to was closed for maintenance.
So I passed up the path and decided to walk along the sidewalks along Gray Rock to the end and then back home again.  I haven't walked this route for a while and it is always nice to look at the houses and gardens.
This is one of my favorite back yards along the way.  It looks so inviting and I'd love to take a stroll around it or maybe sit and read a book.
I saw a few deer walking through back yards and two crossing the street.
Lots of people out walking and running.  We have nice sidewalks along both sides of the street and yet I bet three quarters of the people were in the street.  It is one of those things that really shouldn't matter to me, but it annoys me anyway, especially if I'm driving.

There were a lot of workers doing different things.
Curbs and sidewalks getting worked on.
Then there was the path.
Cables being put in along the sidewalks.
Someone was getting a new patio and the stones were being delivered.
Another person getting a new shingles put on their roof.
Quite a busy morning!!

Lots to look at on my 6.5 mile walk.

I took a chance and hung out a load of clothes even though it was cloudy, but after an hour the sky took a dark turn and it started to rain.  So I had to hurry and take in the laundry and now it is drying on a wooden drying rack.  I put the rack over an AC duct and they will dry fine there.

Yesterday we took the paint label I got off the paint can earlier in the day and went to the Sherwin Williams paint store to get another can.  We went there because that's where we got the paint originally and thought it would be no problem to just get another can.  Well, we got the paint years ago and they don't make that color anymore and when we asked if they could mix up a color to match they said NO.  What a surprise, thought now a days they would be able to match a color easily.
So off to Lowe's we went and they mixed up the color exactly.  No problem at all. : )

Nothing planned for today.  Just taking what comes along. : )
Till next time......
 Have a great day.

Lovely garden...maybe you'll meet the gardener one day.

So that's how you dry your clothes...over the AC vent. We have no central AC so that would be a trick here.

People using the street instead of the sidewalks is one of my pet peeves. School kids fill the street whenever school is let out until they finally wend their way home. One learns quickly not to go anywhere at that time of day. I think they should all get fined. I'm punitive that way. ☺

Sherwin Williams is getting a titch uppity, aren't they? Hmmm...

Sounds to have been a busy morning for everyone. Such a pretty garden - it's amazing what a difference a few trees make.

How nice to have sidewalks for you to use while walking. We have no sidewalks here, with the exception of along a very busy, noisy road, and there are also no shoulders on the road! It sounds like you have a perfect spot to do your walking.

Yes, we find that what we once had years ago is no longer "in vogue.":)
How nice that Lowe's was able to come up with what you needed. That is one of my favorite stores.:)

Thank you for your visit to my little blog.

I think the person at Sherwin Williams was just being lazy! Our SW has done that many times for me. Oh well, Lowes probably had a better price anyway!!

Yeah Lowes. I think they are better generally anyway. They come through for us when Best Buy messes up a freezer we ordered. Lowes turned things around very quickly.

Don't you love the way they can match a paint? About singing the same note: What if we only had one color of paint?

As a consistent "street walker" - ha! - and runner, I have to add that the concrete pavement is 10 times harder on one's legs than asphault. That is why so many people run and walk in the road. But I know it annoys drivers. I stick to the sidewalks for short walks, like walking to the store or to see a neighbor. But walking or running for exercise, I am usually in the roads - guilty as charged! ;^) But I always walk on the far side, facing traffic, and always with nothing plugged in my ears. I've seen people walking three abreast halfway across the road, walking with the traffic behind them, listening to music probably at a high volume, and even while reading a book. Dangerous stuff!
