Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Great white clouds

My lake this morning
A perfect morning for taking a walk.  It was just 50 degrees with lots of bright sunshine.  I walked around the lake in the opposite way that I usually do.  There were a lot of others out enjoying the early morning too.  Walkers, runners, bikers, fishermen at the waters edge, and a few boats as well.
I have always liked to walk but it wasn't until June of 1988 that I started taking a morning walk.  So this month is my morning walk anniversary for 24 years.  I don't remember the exact day.
Up on the grass away from the water there were five different geese families with the babies of all different ages.  I took this picture of one of the babies that was off to the side all on his own.
Little one wondering off
People I meet on my walks are usually nice, friendly and say good morning and have a few words to say.  Even the people who don't talk or look at you continue on their way.  Then there are the few who say just a bit too much like the man today.
I said, "Good Morning, how are you today?"
He said, "Good morning I'm pretty good. How about you?"
I said, "I'm perfectly fine. "
He stopped, watched me walk by and said, "You certainly are!"
I kept walking, but he did gave me the creeps just a bit.

Today I walked just a bit over 6 miles.
********************
I made up a shopping list and left to go the commissary right after breakfast.  I've read a few times that Wednesday is supposed to be the best day to go shopping because that is the day the least amount of people go. It seems to be true.  I picked up a few extra things to take up the trailer.  It will be nice to be able to leave some things there instead of lugging everything back and forth all the time.

When I was finished shopping and walking with my things back to the car I looked up at the sky and it was a very bright blue and the clouds looked so big, white and puffy that I just had to stop and take a picture of them.  The picture doesn't come close to how grand the clouds looked.
I had fun moving all my books around yesterday and finished them up this afternoon.  Now they are all dusted, organized and in their proper places.  Now I just have one problem!  Which one to read next!?  : )

On my walks the last couple of days my heal is starting to bother me a bit, but I think it is just that I need a new pair of walking shoes.  The ones I have are worn down and don't have that much support anymore.
When Ken comes home, we are going out for pizza and afterwards will try to find me a new pair of walking shoes.

Till then I'll be puttering around the house for the rest of the afternoon.  Maybe even pick out a book to read.

Be thankful for your day and make it a good one.

But friendship is precious,
not only in the shade,
but in the sunshine of life,
and thanks to a benevolent arrangement
the greater part of life is sunshine.

You made me smile with the comment the man said to you. However, do steer clear of him if you run into him again.

I love the picture of the baby duck. So cute!

The lake looks beautiful and so does the wee gosling. I think you are awfully brave to walk alone I just don't have that confidence. I hope you had success in finding a pair of walking shoes.

Oh that guy sounds as if he needs a wide berth. Ugh.

Yup, probably time for some new sneakers. I have not replaced the ones I wore way back when we met. The other day when I put them on they just plain hurt so out they go. Time for some new ones. They've not had the workout in three years that yours get in three months!
