Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Strawberry Plants

This morning I walked around the lake.  It was a cloudy very humid morning and 64 degrees.  Walking along the path here I felt like I was in a rain forest.
It wasn't raining but it was very humid and I could hear the water dripping off the leaves and the birds were really noisy.  I was almost surprised not to see a few colorful parrots in these trees today. : )
Lots of people around the lake but oddly no fishermen!
The birds were the only wildlife I saw today.
The sun came out for a short time as I was getting home and the sun shining on my little front garden was a nice welcome home.  I still want to get some petunias to put in the front there to add a little more color.
I found a dime and walked 6.2 miles.
Yesterday Ken came home from work with some strawberry plants that a coworker brought in and asked if anyone wanted any.  Knowing how much I like strawberries Ken said yes and brought some home.
Today I planted them in a big flower pot out back on the deck.  They are a bit wilted but I'm hoping that is because I just planted them.  Hopefully tomorrow they will look better.
I made a few weave-it squares this afternoon for the next baby blanket I started a few weeks ago.  Haven't been working on it much so don't have very many done, but now that I'm in a weave-it mood I'll be cranking them out pretty fast.

I am the kind of cook who usually follows a recipe but tonight I'm going to be creative and make up a recipe for supper.  I have chicken, rice, black beans and corn and will see what I come up with.

Hope you found happiness in your day.
Life is made up of small pleasures.
Happiness is made up of those tiny successes.
The big ones come too infrequently.
And if you don't collect all these tiny successes,
the big ones don't really mean anything.

  1. YUMM!!! I love strawberries! Bring on the strawberry shortcake and whipped cream!

  2. Those ingredients sound like they could make something special :) YUM!!

  3. Your garden in front of your house is lovely.
Good luck with the strawberries. I hope they bear lots of fruit!

  4. Your garden looks so pretty. I think your strawberry plants will perk up after they become acclimated to their new home.
Anxious to hear how your dinner turns out. The ingredients sound tasty.

  5. Kinda' *crazy* humid day today.

Your front garden, looks so pretty.

I'm sure those strawberry plants will perk up. Listen to me! What do I know about plants??? ,-) But it's usual for anything to feel a little-wilty, at first. :-)

  6. Reading about your walk and viewing your photos is therapeutic. Your words are gentle and your appreciation of the simple pleasures in life make me feel so grateful for everything. I love strawberries too. Looking forward to viewing another photo of the one you planted here when it flourishes and bears fruits. I'm feeling hungry reading about what you are about to cook. Blessed day...:-)

  7. We have tons of strawberries and we always want more! I have no idea how to make a baby blanket, so I'm glad there are other people who do. :)

I hope your dinner turned out great!

  8. Oh what a lovely garden. I enjoy watching fruit and veg growing and the best part is the harvesting. We always grow containers full of mixed lettuce leaves which supplies us all summer through. We don't have a big garden so just grow herbs and salad leaves - a pot of strawberries sounds a jolly good idea though.

Hello my friend.
Thanks for stopping by.
I'm hoping you will leave a comment.
Thanks. : )
