Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

The last day

Early Saturday morning we got all of our stuff out of the rental house and packed the truck, turned in the key and then had breakfast.  Then up to our land for our last day of work.  We had a light day of work and finished up the nailing, putting up some more bracing, and installing the door which went surprisingly easy.
Here's a picture taken inside the building.  You can see the door and the trap door leading up to the second floor.  Eventually that will have a ladder/stairs. Off to the right you can see where we have our water for washing up.  Turn the spigot and we have running water.  A towel hangs there too. : )
We did a big straighten up and put a tarp over the second floor to protect it as best we could until the next time we can get up there.
Here The Barn sits until next time.
We will go up to continue work whenever we can.  This is our fun get a way so the work here may NEVER really get finished!!

Our neighbor Ron came up to see us a couple of times and told us to stop by before we left.  So we drove up the road and did.  He told us he had a little cabin.  Well, his 'little cabin' is a beautiful home
and this is his view.
It will be our view too once we clear out some trees.
We left for home at 4:30 and made great time and were sitting in a little restaurant having supper close to home at 6:45.

We feel we made good progress during the week and look forward to when we can go back again.
It was nice sleeping in our own bed again last night and taking a shower in my own bathroom.

It was nice getting back to church this morning after missing it last week.
After church Ken and I did a few errands, one of which was to go to Home Depot and to return the nail gun that wasn't working right.   No problem getting it exchanged for a new one at all.  Now we just hope that this one works right.

Summer came to our part of Maryland today - sunny and in the mid 80's!  Hard to believe that I had to shovel 2 inches of snow up on our land this past Wednesday!!!

My leg seems to be back to normal and I am really looking forward to tomorrow morning when I take that long awaited walk around my lake!!!!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

BTW - I usually read blogs with GoogleReader but they went ahead and "improved" it and I have mistakenly deleted all the blogs that I read.  It may take me a while to find them again.  This may be a good time to shorten my list because it has gotten a bit out of hand anyway.  I am not going to use GoogleReader anymore but just have a blog list.  Not sure how I want to go about it yet.

Congrats, Karen, for a very productive week... I am so happy for you two and proud of what you got done...Awesome!!!

I sometimes use Google Reader--but like using my Dashboard better most of the time --since I can click on the post there and not have to scroll through all of the comments... I don't know what Google Reader did to make you lost yours... What a shame...

Hugs,
Betsy

You have done great progress, I hope you both feel proud and happy about all that work. I am glad your leg is fine now, enjoy your walk tomorrow :)

You deleted me? Oh no!

I am doing a happy little dance thinking that you are sensible people who do not believe that a tree is the view. Thank goodness. Wish there were more like you. Your neighbor has a lovely home with a gorgeous view.

You both did a lot of work and got a lot accomplished. It'll be no time and you'll have the roof on and be staying right there.

GoogleReader left me in the lurch, a long time ago! -sigh-

I have been using the idea, which Vee told me of. Super way! A separate blog, showing new posting.

I prefer not to show the blogs I read, so it is a private separate blog, with the Blogger Thing on it, which shows new posts on blogs I love.

To each her own, of course.

And culling now and then, is wise. All of us, only have so much time. Why waste it? :-)

I like to keep up with the bloggers, I have come to consider friends. Not a big number of them. A *Just Right* number! As Pooh might say... :-)
