Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Detour Route

41 degrees, cloudy and very windy this morning for my walk around the lake. I saw the red winged black birds again, plus some cardinals, and a blue bird.  I've seen these ducks around the lake for a while now.  I went on line and found a picture of them so can now identify them as Ring-Necked ducks.
I walked over to where the path was closed to see if I could walk through anyway, but then saw a man running down the gas pipe line road off to the right which has now been marked as a detour around the work area.  So I walked up the road.  The road has always been there but I never went to check it out.  It is more pronounced now  because of all the use it is now getting.
It is hard to tell by the picture but this is quite a hill.
It goes on for a while and then comes out along here in back of the ball fields.
Which eventually come out into the parking lot, which I walked around.
And finally back down to the main path where I continued my way around the lake.
I really enjoyed walking through the woods there for a while and now I have another option walking around the lake.  I love finding new places to walk. I didn't check my pedometer but I would guess that it is about 1/2 mile or so.  I'll check it out next time I walk around the lake to see how close I am. After seeing that one man running I didn't see anyone else along that part of the path, but I did see quite a lot of people around the rest of the lake.
Stopped to say a few words to Barb and also to a couple taking pictures with some huge expensive cameras.  I can imagine the great shots that they got!
 I walked 6.7 miles today.

The sun came out later and I debated whether to hang my clothes up outside or not because it was so windy again but in the end I did hang them outside.  I did a load of whites and I like to leave them hanging in the sun for a bit even after they have dried so the sun can bleach them.

I have mostly been making weave-it squares today and have gotten quite a lot of them done for another baby blanket I'm making.

I have a new recipe planned for supper tonight called Tuscan Soup which I got out of the Taste of Home Cookbook.  If it is any good I'll share the recipe tomorrow.

A happy Friday to you.

Tuscan soup sounds wonderful--wondering if it has white beans in it! I have a simple recipe for Tuscan Peasant Bread--nice and crusty!
Have a lovely weekend. What is your favorite season to walk in?

That was quite a hill. I could tell.

I got my washing dry outside today (Sat) as we had quite a wind. It's always good to find a different route to walk on - the path through the woods does look quite steep but a very pretty area.
