Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

The auction and a surprise in the mail

I opened the garage door this morning, stepped outside and walked down to the mail box and it started to rain.  I turned around and walked back up the street, got my umbrella and started my walk once again.  It was 45 degrees and it rained the whole time.
No particular route today, just walked here and there down some roads and through some parking lots, and around by the liquor store.  Thought I might find some coins in all the parking lots, but nothing.  Very quiet early this morning.  No wildlife and saw only two people the whole time.  There weren't even many people in cars.
I should have worn my rain paints because the bottom half of my pants were soaking wet as well as my feet.  Luckily it was pretty warm out so I wasn't cold.
I did cut my walk a bit short this morning and didn't walk the full six miles.
Walked 5.6 miles.

We went to the auction preview last night and looked things over in a drizzly rain.  All the wood was outside but lots of doors and windows and tools were inside.  There were even backhoes there but they were all way too big for us and in pretty bad shape.  Unfortunately we didn't see anything we could really use because the lots were much too big for us.  Way too much wood in each lot for us to use and the same with doors and windows.  Still it was fun walking around and seeing what was available.  Wood flooring, tiles, toilets, sinks, shower stalls, kitchen cabinets, and much more stuff were there as well.
We did go back this morning just to see what prices people were paying.  People were getting pretty good deals on most everything but in very large quantities.  It was great if you were a contractor.
The rain stopped when we got there and the sun eventually came out and it ended up being a sunny day though the wind has kicked up once again.
We didn't stay all that long and left to do errands.

I had a pleasant surprise in the mail yesterday.  Joyce from The Next Chapter sent me a beautiful thank you card and a bookmark for the dish clothes I mailed her that she won in the give a way.  Thank You so much Joyce.  I have added your card to my Thank You basket and already have the bookmark holding my place in a book.

Hope you are all enjoying your Saturday.
Till next time.......

  1. Too bad the auction didn't offer what you were looking for. Do you have Habitat ReStores in your area? The ones around here seem to have a lot of building supplies.
What a sweet surprise to receive in your mailbox. The card looks so sringy. I just came in from a bit of gardening. I brought a big bunch of daffodils in with me. Love this time of year.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  2. Sounds as if John would've loved that auction. I will have to ask them if there's ever anything around here like that.

Good thing that you didn't get too far before it started to rain. It was freezing rain this morning, though now it has warmed up and it's a slushy mess.

What a nice thank you...always good.

  3. I love to look at auction merchandise. The closed boxes always intrigue me. Usually, I just look. What a nice thank you gift. Have a good weekend.

  4. Well, this is the first of these auctions you've been to. Many more to come, probably. Some will have what you want.

Don't I sound as if I know anything about this topic? ,-) Which I do not. ,-)
