Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A surprise in the mail

Quite chilly this morning at 37 degrees.  Lots of sunshine and no wind so it didn't feel that cold and by the time I was back home it was already 12 degrees warmer.  I had a great walk around the lake and took my new camera with me.  I didn't take very many pictures because I didn't charge the battery yesterday so could only take a few pictures.  Here is one of the lake.
I took a new header picture too. I took the picture standing in the same place as the old header but now the trees have filled in and it looks nice and green.
Kathy - I did that because of your comment. : )
Lots of people out walking around the lake and I ran into Gary who I haven't seen in months and months.  He was staying in Chicago for a while helping a friend renovate a   house.  More than half of the people I saw today I knew and have met them all just from walking.
I saw a ground hog, a deer and the geese family again.  I walked down to the water and startled a white egret that I didn't realize was there and he took off.  I was startled as well.
I walked 6.4 miles.

Here is my new camera front and back.  One side is pink and the other is maroon.  I borrowed Ken's camera back to take the pictures. : )  It's an Olympus FE4020.  It is the same size as my old one and it feels a tad lighter.  I still have to read the instruction booklet to learn all the features.

I've just been home today hanging around the house doing a little bit of everything.  Ken is working late tonight and won't be home for supper so I just made myself some pancakes.   I like having pancakes for supper.  I added some chocolate chips and Redi Whip for a special treat.

I went out to get the mail and was surprised to find this package sitting out back by the garage.
I opened it up and discovered a Mother's Day gift from my daughter Debbi.
Ohhhhh look what I got!!!  Lots of chocolate.
Thank you so much daughter o'mine. : )
I picked up the phone and called Debbi to thank her.   It was nice to talk to her.  I miss having her right up the street.  Denver seems so far away, but she is really happy there, so I am too. : )

Well here it is Friday evening and I think I'm going to go and read my book until Ken comes home.
I hope your Friday was a good one.
Happyone : )

Thank you!!! What a difference a few weeks make; I love it!

I worked outside most of the day after going to the gym. I have a feeling I'll be sore tomorrow.

Sweet daughter who knows you enjoy chocolate. I'm sure that it's not always easy to have her sooo far away. I'm expecting any week now that you'll be sharing pictures of Denver with us.

Sweet camera...nice colors. I like the header idea, too.

I noticed the change of header immediately before reading your blog. What a great idea to change it with the seasons. Looking forward to some fancy pictures with the snazzy new camera! Pancakes for dinner, nice change of pace I suppose. Enjoy your chocolates, what a wonderful daughter, Happy Mother's Day!

Denver IS far away. Debbi could have brought those candies over to me - I would have tasted a few to make sure they weren't stale before she mailed them. I like the shots taken with your new camera.

Do our children know us or not? I received a box in the mail from our son filled with all kinds of chocolate goodies too. I hope you practiced more restraint than what I did, I have been on a chocolate binge since Friday. lol and have enjoyed every minute and every bite.
Enjoy your new camera, you have a lot of beautiful scenery to photograph. and the new header is beautiful.
I have been on blog break, but wanted to come by today to wish you a very happy and blessed Mother's Day.
