Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Cleaning the deck

This morning when I was out walking it was cloudy, damp, and humid.  The temperature was 66 degrees and to say that by the time I got home I was warm would be an understatement!  I walked one of my routes where I walk on roads, paths through the woods and pass the school.  Here is one of the footbridges I walked over.
Not very many people out which is not unusual for a Monday.
I saw a few rabbits enjoying the goodies from a few gardens.
Not much going on this morning and it was a very quiet walk but I enjoyed it all the same.
I walked 6.7 miles.

The sun eventually did come out from behind the clouds this morning.  I spent the morning out on the deck cleaning it.  I wiped down all the plastic railings and privacy fence, cleaned the chairs and washed the windows. I even got down on my hands and knees and washed the deck flooring.  I also rearranged everything.  The deck is in the shade in the morning so it was nice working out there.  I started out cleaning with 409.  Spray Spray, wipe wipe.  Then I decided to try good old fashion soap and water and it worked just as good if not better.  I filled up a bucket with Ivory Liquid and hot water.  I can't believe how dirty everything was.  I had to change the water many times and each time the water was black.  It had been quite a while since I had given everything a good cleaning.  How nice to have everything clean and new looking again. : ) The deck is made out of some kind fake wood and it is supposed to be multi colored like that.  I thought you might think it looked dirty.

I can't help but smile as I cleaned our shower.  Ken has his soap and shampoo on one side,
and my side, well look at it.  : )
I didn't finish my book in time so I had to renew it.  They make it so easy to renew on line.  We get to keep books out for three weeks and you can renew two times unless the book is being held for another person, then no renews allowed.

After supper we drove over to the old house to put out the recycling and yard waste for tomorrow.  The townhouse complex where I live doesn't have recycling so we bring it to the old place.

We got a movie from Netflix to watch tonight called Keeping Mum - hope it is a good one.  I'll be making a few more weave-it squares after eating my ice cream while watching it.

Hope you had a marvelous Monday.
A smile from me to you.

As I child, my number one best friend was the librarian in my grade school.
I actually believed all those books belonged to her.

The deck looks great and all ready for summer weather. I like the wood grain of the fake wood and the color. Much easier than keeping it painted that's for sure. I feel encouraged by your warming temps. Forty four was our high for the day...brrrr...

Wow, you did do alot of work! In the military you remember I'm sure, we called it a white glove shine, meaning it can pass the white glove test. You have a large, beautiful deck. I also love the tiling in your shower. We still have the 1960s teeny tiny tiles. You are a Pantene girl too! :) What an accomplishment you had today, great job!

Your shower corner looks a lot like mine!

And your deck looks so spic and span!

You have a gorgeous deck. Ours is in sad shape ---not the boards but the stain.. We should never had gotten it stained --but we did several years ago. I truly think they used PAINT instead of stain.. It started peeling off that next year. Now --it's half on and half off... BUT---I power washed it --so at least it is CLEAN... ha

Hugs,
Betsy

You are so industrious. I usually hire someone to wash the deck and our deck really really needs cleaning.

Wondering who built and maintains your wonderful walk ways and etc.? The did/do a marvelous job and all around there, as sooooooooo lucky.
