Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Walking the old path

Today I went to the old house and walked around my old walking places.  Since I had to drive to the old house which is about 20 minutes away I walked later in the morning than usual.  I haven't walked here for a little over two years and thought I would run into some of my old walking friends.  I saw no one at all but I did enjoy walking my old stomping ground.
I walked up to the park but could not walk the path I used to because it was closed.  They have been putting in new sewers all along the river.  So I cut over the ball fields and picked up another path behind the school.  From there I could get to the other part of the path along the river.  The sewers are being put in there too but there are sections that are finished and I could walk along some of it.  There used to be a lot more trees right down to the river but they had to be cut down for the sewers.  In time I'm sure the trees will grow back again.
Here are some pictures I took along the way.

The path goes right under Interstate 95.
I walked down by the river and took a picture.
I walked to the Pratt Bridge.
I used to continue my walk past the bridge and go to the left but it is closed for now.
I walked over the bridge, turned around and headed back.
.
I walked down the hill along the street on the way back.  MaryJo, the crossing guard was still working there and I stopped to say hello to her.
The temperature was just above freezing and the paths look icy but it was crunchy ice so it wasn't slippery.  It was a bit foggy in places but it burned off later in the day.
I ended up walking 7.2 miles.
It was nice getting to walk around the old places again but I am so happy that I have my lake to walk around and the many paths back home.  :-)

My mom had her procedure done this morning and now we have to wait until Monday to get the results from the biopsy. That seems like a long time when you're waiting for results.  She said it was not painful and she thanks you all for your prayers.
She is also having quite a lot of pain from another problem in her lumbar region which is related to the fall she took when her wrist broke.  My mom is 80 years old and has been in very good health up till now.  I just pray she will get back to her normal good health once again.  Thanks for your continued prayers!!

I haven't done much else today.  A little bit of knitting and playing around on the computer.  Who knows what the rest of the day will bring!

Hope all is well in your part of the world.

Yes, it does seem like a long time to have to wait... -sigh- But best wishes, for everything to be normal. And for her regaining her health.

Gentle hugs...

The major pain in biopsies is waiting for results. I'm glad she wasn't subjected to pain during the biopsy and pray that the results are normal.

Glad to hear that your mom's procedure is over and didn't cause pain. The waiting is never fun. I will be keeping her in my thoughts and pray for a good outcome.

Waiting is so hard! Hope all turns out well. We are expecting ice and snow tomorrow again here in central Arkansas! Our city is not very prepared for winter storms since we get so little of it. I might get a snow day off, but unfortunately we have to make it up in June--

I hope everything turns out ok for your mom. It's good that she has you to support her. No snow but freezing cold here with a hard frost. The full moon is so bright (at midnight) that you can read a book outside!

Good to hear that your Mother came through the procedure well. I will be thinking of her. What an interesting walk - an oldie but goodie. Which walk do you like best? They are both lovely and by water.

Monday!! That is definitely a long time to know the results... I will be keeping her in my prayers... I am sure she will become hale and hearty again.

I also have to tell you Karen that your old place is so beautiful. Especially the picture which you described as going under the Interstate 95.

Praying for good results for your mom. For her procedure and her pain.

So you took a trip down 'memory lane'? Sorry, I couldn't help it. It must have been nice, despite the roadblocks and your love of your lake. You spent a lot of time on those old trails.
