Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

One down 74 to go

I finished my first book for the year yesterday and have made a new list on my side bar for the year. Only 74 more to go!  I read Bad Move by Linwood Barclay and thoroughly enjoyed it.  A man moves his family out of the city to the suburbs to get away from the crime, or so he thinks.  He tries to teach his wife a lesson about minimizing your risks and it backfires, oh boy does it ever!!! I got quite a few laughs out of it.  On the cover it reads, "If Dave Barry wrote mystery, it would be something like Barclay's Bad Move." - Rocky Mountain News.  This is the first book I've read by Barclay and I plan to read his other books as well.

My snack last night was chocolate chip ice cream.   I haven't had that flavor for such a long time and it was a real treat to have it again. :-)

This morning I walked along a few paths, down a couple long stretches of road, then back to the paths and then made a little detour up here
and then back home. A cool morning with a temperature of 27 degrees with a slight breeze.  Not bad at all.  A very quiet morning.  I saw 6 people out, all walking dogs along the street, but the paths I had to myself. Didn't spot any wildlife except for the squirrels and birds.
I walked 6.2 miles.

Today I've been doing a bit of house cleaning, not much but a bit! :-)
I'd like to start on the painting the kitchen project this weekend so I've taken down my cookie cutter collection from above the kitchen window over the sink and all the nails and put them in a basket until I can hang them up again.
It looks so bare now above the window sink and this may give me the incentive to get the kitchen painted.  Painting is not something I really enjoy doing, but I love the end result.

I made a birthday card for my youngest grandson Japhy who will be five on Monday the 10th.  Hard to believe he's that old already.  Grandkids grow faster even than your kids do!!
Well, that's it so far for this day.  I'm not sure what I'm going to do next.
A happy day to you.
Happyone :-)

The book sounds like fun reading and very entertaining. Maybe you'll be giving us more book reviews with all the books still on your list! Your youngest grandson is ten? Our oldest is ten! Yes, the years sure fly and you see it in the next generation! Thank you for your remarks about our place. Yes, we've had to do all the repairs ourselves. I love old houses. So much character there, although ours wasn't old; just worn!

Grands definitely grow faster than children do. I'd forgotten that your grand and mine are so close in age.

Yay on the book! I've started one, but am a long way from finishing it.

From your description the book sounds very entertaining. I wasn't familiar with that author.
Yum to the chocolate chip ice cream. After too many cookies at Christmas, I am trying to avoid sweets. Bah humbug :(.
Thanks for answering my question on where your Honey Bunch books came from. My sister-in-law has a HUGE library of children's literature (most of which she has acquired at thrift shops). I asked her if she had any Honey Bunch and she said she has only ever found one. I'll keep looking as it's always fun to have something new to be hunting for :).

Off to a good start on the books - I'm almost finished with my first, too.

I should start counting my books. I just finished my first. I have two paper books waiting and a new audio book started. I hope I get started on the paper ones. So many other things seem to fill my time.

I hope you get your painting done. I know you've wanted to do it for a very long time.

One [book] down! Hooray! :-)

Thank you for another reading suggestion. I need to get out of my usual genre for a while. I'm losing interest and that's a sure sign, for a change.

I'm probably just dense, but don't think I knew you had "Grands." Happy 5th to him!

Gentle January hugs...

Both book clubs meet this week so I'm trying really hard to finish THE LACUNA before we see each other tonight. Guess what I'll be doing today?
