Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

At home working on my list

I walked around the lake yesterday morning on a cold windy day and this morning the weather was just as cold as I walked one of my connect the path routes.  I wear so many layers that it takes quite a while to get dressed and then I look like I weigh 10 pounds more than I do! :-)  I am one of those people who are always cold and it always seems so funny to me that when I'm outside in the cold weather that I'm nice and warm and that's the warmest I am for the rest of the day.  I come home in the house and I'm cold.  When I go out later in the day I always think, I can't believe I walked this morning, it's so cold out!  Amazing what a few layers will do!
I saw a few deer out in the woods and that's about it for the wild life.
On this route there is a crossing guard.  Usually she'll just give a wave and say hi.  Today she was in a very talkative mood so I stayed and talked to her for a while.
I only saw a few people out.  Petey and her husband John were out and they were as puffy looking as I was with all their layers on and we all laughed about that.
I was glad to be outside walking and enjoying the start of a new day.
I walked 6.6 miles.

Last night we went to Mimi's Cafe for supper.  It's been quite a while since we've been there and I was in the mood for one of their Chicken Pot Pies.  It was just so perfect looking that I had to take a picture of it.
 It tasted very good too.  I ate about half of it and brought the rest home.
After I took the picture, Ken said aren't you going to take a picture of my food too. So I took a picture of his too.  I can't remember what his was called but it was Asian something or other.  I had a small taste it was delicious.  I'm going to get it next time.
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm at home today getting things done around the house.  I made a list and put it on my desk top.  The things I want to do are in red and when I get them done I change the color to black.  I can tell at a glance how much I've gotten done.
In the middle of all this the phone rang. It was my daughter Debbi. :-)  A nice surprise in the middle of the day.  We talked for about a half hour.  I miss her living down the road, but she is extremely happy with her new life in Denver and I am very happy for her.
Just taking a bit of a break from my list of things to do.
Who knows what the rest of the day will bring.
Hope your Monday is a happy one.
A smile from me to you.
Happyone :-)
Yummy looking food... It is odd that you are warm out in the cold and cold home in the warm. Don't worry about looking ten pounds heavier...you're a mere peanut!
Hi Karen :)
Your day sounds nice, my Monday became nice too.
I also easy feel cold, and my feets are always cold. The best I can do to get warm is to go out for a walk, then I become warm.
Hope your week continue to be happy :)
Your husband's dish looks delicious... and i would love to give it a go. it must have been interesting when your daughter lived so close to you.. this reminded me of Father of the Bride scene. How is she doing and how are your grandkids Karen?
ale, Its a DVD that I made. There was a show called Body Electric with Margaret Richards on years ago and I recorded some of the shows. There are some floor exercises and the use of light weights.
Ratz, My daughter and grandkids are doing great. Denver really agrees with them.
Me too, I'm often cold. But can't stand too much heat/humidity either. -silly me- :-)
Oh yes LISTS! You have a cute idea, on your desktop.
We make lists in a colored marker, and cross off the "done stuff," with black marker.
I read that making lists is goooooood, because when you write it down, you "get it off your mind." But you have to check the lists often. And get-'em-done. ["Makin' a list and checkin' it twice..."]
Talk about comfort food - the chicken pot pie looks really yummy. Ken's plate looks good, too.
In the past, when I walked every day, I never noticed the cold. I still walk but not very far and the cold really beats me up!
I truly enjoy reading your blog and seeing your pictures. I admire your upbeat attitude towards everything. Sending you a big smile and a thank you.
That's funny about being cold in the house, but not outside with all of your layers on. I was freezing in the house yesterday and kept adding layers.
I love the food at Mimi's Cafe. I haven't tried the chicken potpie, but it sure does look good. Maybe next time.
