Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Sunrise 6:54
Sunset 4:51
The days are getting shorter by minutes every day.
The wind was gone and cooler temperatures were back this morning.  Not cold, just not as warm as yesterday.  It was a nice sunny morning once it came up.  I walked on one of my connect the path routes.  A few small trees were blown down from the wind yesterday and most  had already been cut up and taken off the paths.  One of the paths was just about to get resurfaced and I made it down just before they got started.  The resurfacing has been going on for the past month or so.  I heard a woodpecker, looked up and spotted a downy woodpecker.  Up too high and not bright enough to get a good photo. I also saw five deer, each one on its own.  Not that many people out along the paths and the ones I saw were walking dogs.  Didn't see anyone I knew.
I walked 6.3 miles.
Kathy, I didn't see the ringed bird yesterday at the lake.  There are a couple of people who are bird watchers.  I'll ask one of them when I next see them.

Giving Thanks Day Number 18
Today I am thankful for Comments left on my blogs.
I find it flattering that so many of you read my blogs,
But I am so thankful when someone takes the time to leave a comment.  I think reading and commenting is how we get to know each other better than just reading.
I am thankful for all of my blogger friends.
You all add to my happiness.
Thanks to you all. :-)

I didn't really feel like going to the commissary today but I thought this would probably be the best day to go because of Thanksgiving coming up next week.  Next week it will be a madhouse.  As with most things once I made up my mind to go and started out I was glad that I did.  A bit of a line but not bad.  I got most of what I need for Turkey day except for the turkey!!  I can get the turkey cheaper off base.  We only need a small turkey because it will just be the two of us, but I will be cooking a great meal with all the trimmings!!

I spent the afternoon sewing another row of white squares onto the white sampler afghan that I've been working on for years.
Made another banana bread with chocolate chips in it. ( I must really start eating more bananas before they turn brown).
Did my exercise DVD.
And now I'm off to read for a while.

A smile from me to you.
Happyone :-)
O Lord that lends me life,
Lend me a heart replete with thankfulness.

I just love your photo for today - I'm thankful for it! Don't eat those bananas, the bread sounds much better.

Love your blog! It is very inspiring to me. I'm still working up the gumption to just get out there and do it again! I might could do three miles, but it would take me a while to work up to 6 miles a day of walking! You are so blessed to have such a beautiful place to walk everyday. Thank you for taking time out of your day to post such lovely pictures and words!

I had to throw out two bananas today. It nearly killed me, but they were wizened and revolting. They needed to be in a banana bread three days ago. We went Thanksgiving shopping today, too. No turkey here either, but my daughter says her company is giving her one. I sure hope so!

It´s so funny to think your days are becoming shorter and here at the other side of the world, days are longer, temperature is rising and the only thing one wants to do is to be outdoors or lying happily under the sun.
What´s a commissary is????
Here we don´t have Thanksgiving celebration, I only saw it at films, but it seems to be a very important day for all of you people!
So have a happy day!!!Thanks for the pictures you live in a lovely place.
