Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Happy on a rainy day.

 Sunrise 7:39
Sunset 6:03
A dark wet morning as I walked around the lake.  A day for rain pants and the golf umbrella!  I wore my old shoes because I didn't want to get my new ones wet already. I only saw one other person out walking around the lake and that was when I was three quarters of the way around it.  There were four cars in the parking lot so I know there were a few others there! The geese didn't seem to mind the rain, they were all just sitting on the lake in the rain.  I saw a few rabbits along the path but that was it for the wildlife again.  The weather, though not warm, wasn't cold either.  It was actually a very nice walk in the rain and I walked 6.8 miles.

Giving Thanks Day Number 4
I am thankful for rainy days which are good for,
Walking in the rain,
Staying warm and cozy inside,
Cleaning,
Reading,
Knitting,
 Baking bread,
or some tasty dessert.
It's nice to have a rainy day every so often to enjoy.

Our dinner at Outback was very nice last night and the cheesecake was just as good as we knew it would be.  Ken took a piece to work today for breakfast!!
Thanks for all the birthday wishes for Ken. :-)
Ken got a mystery birthday card mailed to the old house.  I appears he has a secret admirer which I'm not so sure I like!  The address on the card to him was typed in block letters and then pasted on the envelope.  No return address.  The card was to someone very special! No signature, just a blank card.  It could be flattering or scary.

A day at home for me on this rainy day and I did all those things on my thankful list today. :-)
I made dill bread in the bread machine and used the apples from yesterday to make a recipe called Apple Betty out of my Better Homes and Garden Cookbook.
I haven't made the recipe for years, but I must have liked it because I put four stars next to it.
Here are a bit more than four cups of apples cut up and in a pie plate.
Cutting butter into the dry ingredients.
Topping over the apples and ready for the oven.
Here is a serving of Apple Betty warm out of the oven, in a dish topped with a dollop of RediWhip just before I ate it. :-) I have added another star next to the four already next to the recipe in my cookbook!! Not a very healthy lunch but oh so good.  It does have apples so maybe it wasn't so bad after all. :-)

It's still raining out and now I am going get a little more reading done.
Hope you all enjoyed your Thursday, rain or shine.
Happyone :-)
I find that a great part of the information I have
was acquired by looking up something and finding
something else on the way.

I'm really enjoying your thankful list! I believe you can count that Apple Betty as a fruit - I would, anyway! Tell us if you get to the bottom of Ken's secret admirer.

Secret Admirer, eh? Yup. Hope that it turns out to be Uncle Ned.

Gotta admire a gal who walks 6.8 miles in the rain. I walked quite a bit in the rain today...and was soaked to the bone. I didn't like it one little bit. I was wearing a raincoat, but it was useless.

The Apple Betty looks delicious!

Your Apple Betty looks alot like the Apple Crisp that I made last night. I was just telling my husband that we'll have to finish it for breakfast tomorrow as we are leaving to go out of town in the afternoon.
That birthday card Ken received did sound rather mysterious. Hope you are able to get to the bottom of it.

The apple Betty looks scrumptious!

I'm not sure I'd like the secret admirer thing, either. Hope that turns out to be innocuous.

Ken got a mystery card... Mailed to the old house though. I'd be glad it was not mailed to your present address.

Mmmmmm.... If you get any clues, please keep us posted.

The Apple Betty looks delicious. It reminds me of the Apple Crisp my mother used to make.
