Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Hair day

This morning I walked in the fog and it was pretty warm out.  I never know what kind of weather I will be walking in.  Our weather is anything but predicable here in Maryland.  It keeps things interesting.  I walked around the lake on this Monday morning.  Not many people as usual for this day but I did see a few of the regulars.  I walked part way around with Barbara until she took off up the path to the road that leads her back home.  As you can see from the picture I saw the heron again.  I spotted a couple of deer out too.  One by the lake and the other on the path to the lake.
I walked 6.3 miles.  I have been wearing my pedometer all day counting up all my steps for a few months now but today I decided to once again only wear it on my walks.  I feel I am active enough during the day that I don't have to keep track of all my steps so I will walk more.  I have been feeling a bit obsessed about the steps and this way I don't have to think about all the steps I'm taking.

Giving Thanks Day Number 22
I am thankful for grocery stores.
I can walk into a store and pick anything I need right off a shelf.

I was home in the morning getting started on the work for the week around the house.
I had a hair appointment in the afternoon to get those roots of mine colored again.  I never realized how fast my hair grew before.  Cheryl also took two inches or so off my hair so it looks and feels thicker and healthier.  It's nice having a friend do your hair because we had a nice visit too.

So that's been my day so far.  Ken should be home soon and we are going out to eat at Longhorns.  They have a terrific salad with toasted nuts in it that I'm going to get.  Hope you had a happy day.

A smile from me to you.
Happyone :-)

but how we use them,
is the true measure of our thanksgiving.

My you're looking great! What? I can't see you? Sure I can...healthy, bouncy hair and lots of energy, too. I was at Barbara's Ramblings from an English Garden when she showed some sort of bird that may have been a heron only she called him an unwelcome pest or guest or something. Anyway, made me think of all your herons or all your pictures of this one heron. Do you think you're seeing the same one?

The weather here has kept us guessing as well Karen. Just yesterday we had a good sunny day and today we had a cold chilly day without seeing the sun at all. I wonder how it will be tomorrow.

I'm accustomed to frivolous weather! I like your heron there by the dry grasses. Happy Thanksgiving.

I'm glad to have you as a friend! It's always great to see you and have you as a captive audience when you're in the salon. We need a lunch date at Ram's Head with the old gang, like you suggested. I won't go there without you.

Vee, there are two herons at the lake. I can't imagine them being a pest. They are beautiful to watch.

I got a little obsessive about counting steps a few times myself. I think you know, once you have counted steps for a while, to know if you are doing enough. When I counted them, I was amazed how many steps I take at work. I work 6 floors up and almost never take the elevator. And I would make it a habit of walking whenever I can - I walk to see someone at work rather than calling him or her, etc. It was adding up to at least 4,000 - 6,000 steps a day at work alone.
