Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Home from vacation

We were away on a nice relaxing vacation at Deep Creek Lake for a week. Left Sunday June 27 and arrived back home Sunday July 4th.

Spent many hours sitting on the deck over looking the lake. We talked a lot, read and watched the many boats out on the lake.
My parents came over one day and we had such a nice time with them. We went to the state park and walked along the path that leads to the water falls that we visited a few weeks ago. They stayed the night and then went home the next day.
Here you can see where some people walked behind the falls. Here's all four of us along the path.Almost every where we ate we sat outside on a deck or by a window looking out over the lake. As we ate our lunch out on the deck of Uno's we watched this little boy make his way up the elephant to sit on its trunk.
We played miniature golf.Played some of the arcade games and Ken won me this ring and bracelet. Just cheap little things but so much fun to get. :-)

Another day we drove to Oakland which is just down the road and walked along the streets stopping in some stores and window shopping. Here's the old Oakland train station.A B & O train car parked out front of it.
Another day we drove into West Virginia and I took this photo of a pretty little lake.
Our time away was very nice and we enjoyed every minute but when it was time to come back home we were ready. I love going away but love coming home too and I am happy to be back home.

I am going to take a little more time off from posting on this blog. I will be posting pictures on my other blog though. I had planned to post there during our time away but forgot to bring the cable for downloading pictures off the camera.
I'll probably be back to posting here next week.

Hope all is well in your part of the world.
Have a happy day.
Happyone :-)

Lovely, Karen! Your dad looks so wonderful! One would never expect he'd been ill!

What neat views! I learned to water ski on that lake.

Oh I'd hoped that you were on vacation so I'm delighted to see that you were. Looks as if you visited a very pretty place and that you had time to visit with your parents is always good. Glad to know that you're home even if you're not going to be posting as often for a while. Hey, we all need a break from time to time.

It's so good to see you again! It sounds like a wonderful vacation. You all were wearing long pants! The weather must have been great. I was in minimal clothes the same week of my vacation because it was so hot!

I'll check out your picture blog to see more.

Happy Day!!

Isn't it just wonderful to get away for rest, relaxation and just plain FUN? I'm trying to talk my hubby into taking some time off this summer--we'll see.
