Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

The last couple of days

Hi all! Thanks again for all the kind words and well wishes for my birthday. :-)
Monday Ken had to go into work for a half day. While he was gone I did my usual morning routine and also made some banana bread. I like my bananas without ANY brown spots, Ken likes them with a few and when they are covered in brown spots, that's when I turn the bananas into bread. I tried a different recipe this time and it turned out on the dry side. Next time I'll go back to my usual recipe.
The holiday afternoon we had a nice quiet time out back on the deck. It was a warm sunny day and we put up the umbrella and it was nice to sit under it out of the sun. We tried out the new little grill we got the other day and made a delicious meal. We grilled hot and mild Italian sausage and red bell pepper and onion kabobs. Grilled the rolls just a bit to brown them and made sandwiches. We wrapped corn on the cob in tin foil and cooked them right on the grill too. Later on we finished things off with watermelon and later still ate another piece of birthday cake. There is still some left but not for long!!

Yesterday was a busy day. Walked my 6 miles as usual. It was my knitting group morning so off I went to knit at 9:30. There were 14 of us there. It started out a sunny morning, but clouded up once we started knitting. We got rained on a bit, but then the sun came out once more and it stayed around until later in the afternoon. A few thunder showers rolled by but they didn't last long either before once again the sun came out.

From knitting I went to the hair salon and had Cheryl color my hair once again. I wish my hair grew a bit more slowly! It was nice to see Cheryl and we had a nice chat catching up. During the waiting part I knitted since I had it with me from the morning. I got back home a little after 3 and by the time I did a few things Ken was home from work. I never did get to eat lunch. But we met our friends Jackie and Kerry at a new restaurant for dinner. The place was nice, the food okay, and the servers just tried too hard. They were around asking if everything was okay way too often!! It was a nice time out with friends though and we enjoyed the time.

My morning walks have been just as nice as always. I've walked the paths, neighborhoods and around the lake. A few pictures from my walks.
The Fox
The baby geese are getting quite big now.I spotted this other family with three little ones.A turtle. I'm pretty sure this one is a mud slider.
Today I also saw a groundhog. I wasn't fast enough to get a picture of it though. The two herons were about too but I have quite a few good pictures so didn't bother to take another one.

I'm having a stay at home day and getting some things done around the house. I have three loads of laundry on the line and will do the ironing later when it is dry.
I also have some blog reading catching up to do and when Ken comes home from work we will go out for pizza. This evening is my Bible study group which is more than half finished now.

So that is it for now.
I hope you are all happy enjoying your day.
Happyone :-)

FYI
During the month of May on my morning walks I walked 198 miles.
I found $1.14 in coins.

Don't forget that $20 bill for a grand total of $21.14. Pretty good haul!

Your table looks so beautiful and the food so yummy. I'll have to go find your regular recipe for banana bread...maybe...maybe I'll find it that is, I am going to try.

Your Memorial Day dinner looks yummy. Corn on the cob and watermelon are 2 of my favorite summer foods.
That is a very impressive amount of miles you walked in May.

Your holiday/birthday dinner looks yummy! You're seeing quite a few 'critters' on your walks (not to mention money!).

Between your wildlife sightings and the money you've found, you could do a leaflet for Howard County Parks and Rec!

Your holiday meal looked fabulous, and so colorful!

Love your wildlife photos. I'd sure like to see a fox around here. We have way more than our share of geese, but I still like seeing them, especially the babies.
