Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Secret Sisters and a new car

This morning with my pumpkin bread in hand I went to church for the Secret Sister Brunch. What a nice time I had. We all brought a little something to eat and of course there was way too much food and all of it looked delicious. I picked out a few things that looked especially good to me and had a little piece of blueberry coffee cake, a pastry with a chocolate cream inside, some kind of spice bread and some strawberries. We talked and got to know each other a little better. There was a short questionnaire to fill out with questions about ourselves. Birthday, anniversary, interests, favorite food and other things like that. Then we folded them up, put them in a basket and each one of us drew a name out which was our Secret Sister. I drew a women named Tracy. It is of course kept secret throughout the year and I send her little presents, words of encouragement and any thing else I want to. Then in January we all get together again and find out who our Secret Sister is. I'm already planning on making Tracy a cross stitch book mark for her birthday in August. :-) Tracy and I both listed Ice Cream as one of our favorite foods and her favorite color is Red which is my favorite color too. I can't help but wonder who drew my name. I've always wanted to do this. When I was a kid I remember my mother participating in this type of thing but they called them Secret Pals back then.
Today they had four little bags of goodies and I got one because I was the newest member of the church. Here is a picture of what was in my little bag of goodies. :-)A very enjoyable morning.

The afternoon wasn't so bad either. Ken has been talking about trading the FJ in and getting another car for quite a while now. Nothing wrong with the FJ but he just wants something different. I think always wanting new cars is a man thing!! I am perfectly happy with my car. Anyway we went to look at Xterras (Nissan) and we ended up buying a new dark gray one. We got a real good deal on our trade in and ended up almost making an even swap. It rides very nice and we are very pleased with our new car.
Here she is all cleaned and getting the tags put on.Here she is sitting in the sun. :-)
This evening we went out to eat at Bertucci's. Now we're home for the evening.
Later we will watch an episode of Oz, eat ice cream and I'll do a bit of knitting.
All in all Saturday was one fine day!

I hope you enjoyed your Saturday too!

As long as he doesn't trade in your car, right? Ha! What a nice gift you received this morning. The Lord knows you need a little pampering with all the walking you do. Very cool! If your secret sister likes the same color that you like, you're going to have a lot of fun giving her little gifts.

Your secret sister program sounds like a lot of fun. Tracy will be happy that you drew her name. I know that you will be a great secret sister.

Lovely gift you received and a nice looking new car too.

I think men just love that "new car" smell. If they could bottle that and make it into perfume for us women, men would probably swoon every time we walked by. LOL That secret sister program sounds so nice. I know you will enjoy it immensely.
