Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

This morning was warmer than yesterday and I left off one of my layers! I can't believe that I was actually sweating. When I walk is the only time I'm warm in the winter. The rest of the day I'm freezing. Crazy huh!? I walked around the lake again and went 6.4 miles. A few of the regulars were out. One person had his camera on a tripod and was taking pictures of all the geese. The sky was awesome this morning and I snapped these two pictures. That wonderful color only lasted a few minutes. Amazing how fast the sky changes!
I saw a couple of bluebirds again and also a cardinal. Blue and red really stand out on the white snow and brown trees.
I packed up some knitting to do and left the house again at 9:30. Had to stop for gas and then headed to Borders where the Tuesday morning knitting group meets. Some of the same people from Wednesday night were there and I met some new people too. All nice people who like to knit and talk. I knitted on yet another preemie hat for Bonnie. Her project ends March first. It will be nice to knit on something else! I know I don't have to keep making more and Bonnie would be happy with just the ones I've already made but I just can't knit on something else until the deadline. I've become obsessed with knitting these things. :-)

I left Borders just before noon and my next stop was the commissary. I knew this wasn't going to be a good time to go because snow is predicted for later today and it was in the afternoon, but I went anyway because I really needed to go. There were a lot of people there and I did have to wait on line for a while. I ended up only getting 20 items so I could go on the express line. I just talked to the woman in front of me and we had a nice chat while waiting. :-)

I left this morning without eating breakfast so when I got home a little after 2, I was really hungry. I made myself some Nachos. Very quick and easy.
I spread tostito chips out on tin foil.
Then put med hot salsa on them.
Hot chili powder is sprinkled over them.
With cheddar cheese on top of all.
Broil for a few minutes until the cheese melts.
They were really good but Ken usually makes them for me and his always taste better.

I didn't do anything around the house today. Not yet anyway. After I ate I just sat down and read for a while. I'm still working on the two library books which I thought I'd have done by now. I know I said I wasn't going to get any books from the library for a while, but the three books I put on reserve are already in and waiting for me to pick up. I got to the top of the list a lot quicker than I thought!

It has felt like Wednesday all day today. Ken worked Sunday and then I usually go to the commissary and meet the knitters on Wednesday. I'll just have an extra day this week!! :-)

Hope your Tuesday is a terrific day for you.
Happyone :-)
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

  1. How many of those little preemie caps have you made?

That morning photo is spectacular and with snow in your weather forecast, it must be true what they say...red sky in the morning...sailors take warning...

Keep looking up. It'll be spring in your corner before you know it.

  2. What beautiful pictures, Karen. I'm glad you took the time to sit down and read!

  3. The sunrise pictures are just beautiful! Just wondering if you ever walk in the evening just to catch the sunset.

  4. Vee, I've made 14 hats, 6 pair of booties, and 3 pair of mitts so far.

Jeanne, No, I only walk in the morning. But maybe I should consider going in the evenings once in a while too.

  5. Got the car serviced, played with a friends Palate (sp) chair. Such a giggle machine, we both fell on the couch giggling at each others attempts to do the Mountaineer.

  6. You really got some great captures of the sunrise! Those are gorgeous!

I kept feeling like today was Wednesday, too. I'm glad it wasn't, as I would have missed a new knitting class and a TV show I've been waiting for.

Hope you don't get too much snow!

  7. Your morning sky pics are stunning!! And the Nachos look yummy!

  8. Beautiful pictures of the sunset. I always think cardinals look beautiful with a backdrop of snow. How nice to know that you are helping to keep so many tiny babies warm and cozy.

  9. The sky was really beautiful. Were the birds you saw bluejays or blue birds?

  10. The colors in your sunrise pictures are truly awesome. You were very brave to go to the commissary when snow is redicted. The groceries stores areund here are always jammed when snow is mentioned.

  11. Kathy, they were Bluebirds. I've seen them a few times now.
