Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Fios TV

Another day for saying Thank You. :-)
Thanks for all the comments on yesterdays post.
You all truly are my friends!!

I didn't get to walk this morning because I had to be home waiting for the Verizon guy to install our Fios TV. Yes, we broke down and finally decided to get it. He could have come as early as 8AM and I usually get home around 8:20. I guess I could have cut my walk short but thought I would go later after he left. Silly, silly me also thought what if he gets here early!! As it happens I had PLENTY of time for walking in the morning and ran out of time in the afternoon because he came late in the day. My window of waiting was from 8 to 5. Not a very narrow window. David the Verizon guy called me at 3:15 and said he'd be here within 30 minutes and got here at 4:00. He was very nice and everything went smoothly and now we are all set with lots of channels. Wow!! What a fantastic clear picture. I'm sure we will be watching a lot of television, at least for a little while because its all so new. The remote will take a little while to learn as there are so MANY different functions to learn. Who would ever thought just watching TV could be so complicated!

While at home today I cleaned the upstairs.
Finished reading The Lost Art of Gratitude by Alexander McCall Smith.It is the sixth book in the series about Isabel, Jamie and Charlie. I like all of these books. Here is a poem from the book which I really liked.

What we lose, we think we lose for ever.
But we are wrong about this; think of love -
Love is lost, we think it gone,
But it returns, often when least expected,
Forgives us our lack of attention, our failure of faith,
Our cold indifference; forgives us all this, and more;
Returns and says, "I was always there."
Love, at our shoulder, whispers: "Merely remember me,
Don't think I've gone away for ever;
I am still here. With you. My power undimmed.
See. I am here."

Did some knitting on the scarf I started yesterday. I still have a ways to go but with this picture you get the idea of the colors. The two rows of color between the white stripes will all be different. I started this last night at my knitting group. The white stripes are supposed to be 12 rows but these are now 14 rows. I got to talking and knitted an extra 2 rows. Instead of ripping the two out, I just decided to make them all 14.

I'll be knitting more on the scarf tonight while watching TV and then I'll start a new book.

I hope your had a happy Thursday and you got to do something fun.
Karen :-)

Hi Karen,

I'm very happy for you and Ken!

Goodness, you do all that walking PLUS an exercise DVD. You are making me feel ashamed of myself for not being consistent in walking every day! It's so hard to do. I like to walk, but getting started is the hardest part.

I've made one pair of the slippers so far and I'm enjoying wearing them each morning.

Your new scarf for your friend is very pretty!

I did some hand sewing and some knitting today so I had a happy Thursday.

I like the quote about love from the book you just finished.

I waited last week for the Fios guy. When he got her her couldn't find the spliter box and he left without doing anything!
Thought about you tonight at our book club. Someone mentioned that Mamie Eisenhower loved pink and green!

Dear Karen,

That poem is really beautiful and it is so true. I liked it and your scarf too. It'll turn out good with all those colours.

The scarf looks so pretty. I love all my channels but I don't buy any movie channels. Like HBO or SHOWTIME but there still seems to be enough on to make me happy. I like old movies and AMC and TCM has lots of movie for me to watch. Hallmark and Sci-Fi are great too.

I also like the poem from your book. I hope you enjoy your new TV -- and that you soon figure out all those functions!
