Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

This and That

Debbi told us about a state park that is up the road from the Weis where we get all that ice cream we like so much. We were out driving around yesterday afternoon and decided to go and check it out. It is a wonderful place with trails to go walking and hiking along. We weren't prepared for a hike then but plan on going back next weekend for a hike. Sure hope we have nice weather because I'm really looking forward to hiking there.

Today was a busy day at home. Now that I have three lines to hang out on the deck I got to hang out two large loads of laundry. By the way, there has been some talk about my clothes lines on the deck around the neighborhood. The home association is being formed now that the townhouses are almost all done. Someone complained, but my neighbors right across from me think that my lines are great and think it is ingenious how we made them for the deck. I'm sure there will be some more talk about the lines at other meetings but I don't really care because I am going to keep hanging my clothes outside!!

I spent a lot of time on the computer with Quicken and getting bills paid. I like when things are nice and orderly and Quicken keeps everything that way for me.

I took this picture on my walk. Looks like the beavers are at it again.
They have started on a few trees by the side of the road which have been cut down. I guess they didn't want them falling in the street. The beavers just keep going after the next tree in line.

After supper we went to the library and Ken got a couple of books out. I didn't get any because I'm still working on The Pillars of the Earth. Just haven't been reading much lately.
When we got back home, Ken parked his Vette in the street in front of our house. Then we walked the road to the garage in back looking for nails. Two of our neighbors were out walking and we stopped to talk for a bit.
Once we got back in the house we took our books and went to sit on the deck to read until dark.

Snacks tonight were muffins from Mimi's Cafe. Blueberry for me and Carrot Raisin Nut for Ken. We watched Seinfeld and I knitted on the blue ripple afghan. I'm finished with 11 strips and have 8 more to go. I was going to keep this one for myself but decided to give it away to a friend. The friend reads my blog so I won't mention her name.

That's about it for today. Hope your Monday had some happy moments scattered throughout the day.
Happyone :-)

There are quite a few state parks around us. You should have a great time exploring!
As for your clothes line. As long as there are no clothes 24-7 you should be fine. In this political arena, it's unpatriotic to fight 'green' methods of life.

Kathy is correct. Fighting 'green' is unpatriotic. Others in our little neighborhood are starting to put up clothes lines and I will, too, as soon as I return to normal mode.

Speaking of normal mode - We intend to begin walking along the several greenways around our town as soon as I can walk at least one mile. Maybe we'll get to enjoy fall colors up close and personal.
Your pictures really have inspired me to walk and enjoy nature first hand.

I'm a day late visiting this post but I'm glad I did. I'm with the others when it comes to hanging your clothes outside. There's nothing better than drying your laundry using mother nature - oh, the fresh air!

The park looks amazing. I hope the weather holds up for you and you get to hike along those trails. That would be so much fun. I wish I could join you!

It sounds like you had a full day of activities and I hope you take a photo of the blue ripple afghan when you're finished. I'd love to see it.

I hope you had a blessed Tuesday!

Hugssss, Susan

I don't like beavers. They destroy trees! We lost so many in our nearby wetland area.

I'm with the others on the clotheslines. Think green. Act green.

See you for dinner. Yum!

Wow that beaver did a lot of damage!

I read the Pillars of the Earth --interesting, but a slow read.

I like that dentist's sign! A good thought.
