Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

A few notes from today

Pretty quiet day around the house.
After my morning walk which was my usual 6 miles, I made pancakes for my breakfast.

I have had this paint by number sitting around for quite a while and decided finally to paint it. I didn't actually get around to starting the painting today - I'll start it tomorrow. I haven't done one of these in years and thought it might be fun. If it comes out okay I'll hang it my bedroom where I have started a bird house theme.

I sat outside on the deck until it was getting dark and finished reading another book called The Grand Finale by Janet Evanovich. It was a lighthearted, funny (silly) love story. A very quick read.

Part 2 of Sense and Sensibility was on MPT tonight and I watched that while I had one of the Black and Whites again for my snack. There was an actress in S and S that I knew from some other show and for the longest time I couldn't place her. I kept seeing her much younger and then it came to me - she was Rose from Upstairs Downstairs!

Just about bed time, so I guess I'll read a bit more more I go to sleep.
Happyone :-)
Its not what we say that counts,
Its what we do.

  1. Your painting kit looks fun! You are inspriring me to try some new creative things....maybe I'll try one of these this winter :)

You are inspiration Karen! And I'm very happy to have you as a blogging buddy!

  2. I love the idea of a birdhouse theme. What a pretty picture of your walk. I'm only walking a half hour in the mornings, just enough to get me out of bed and stretched out, but it feels good. I had a black and white for a snack last night too! Yumm.

  3. Anyday that starts with a six mile walk and then pancakes with strawberries is going to be a red-letter day in my book, HappyOne! Art

  4. Breakfast looks yummy. The painting kit looks like fun and a very cute picture.

Love the quote today ~ so true!!

  5. I don't know what looks more beautiful: the painting or the pancakes! I'm going to go with the pancakes. :)

  6. Those pancakes and strawberries (and whipped cream - oh my!) look wonderful.

I like your birdhouse painting kit. That looks like it would be fun.

  7. I've just discovered Janet Evanovich and I'm really enjoying her books. Such funny characters!

  8. You cna those delicious-looking pancakes for me any morning you like!
I did a paint-by-number painting many years ago. I think my parents still have it hanging in the den at their house.

  9. Paint by number...that brings back many fun memories. How fun to do one again!
