Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

This and That

Ken dug up this picture of me playing with the Kubota that I mentioned the other day. :-)
I had a great walk around the lake yesterday morning. I was there a little earlier than usual and I only met a couple of people. I love the early morning when there aren't many people walking around yet. After breakfast we went to our daughter Debbi's house and took the old shingles and tar paper off her shed roof and put new tar paper and shingles on it. It is a small shed and really didn't take all that long. Went home for lunch and then headed out again. This weekend was the big train show at the Timonium Fairgrounds and we took a ride up there. In one of the other buildings there was a carnival going on and there were people all over the place. I was surprised to see a carnival going on inside a building!
Some of you have been wondering how the fence headboard turned out.
The before
This is the after but before the finishing touches.
The final after.
A close up of the birdhouse.
It is not your usual headboard which is the reason why we like it. I bought the garland of flowers from Michael's as well as the balsa wood birdhouse which I painted. I would still like to get something to hang on the wall between the posts towards the left side. Maybe a picture of bird houses or maybe I'll do a cross stitch. The other day I made a loaf of bread in my bread machine and when it was done baking I saw that it had not risen and realized I had forgotten to add the yeast. All was not lost though, it made great toast that tasted like English muffins and the slices were small and fit nicely in the toaster. :-) Another nice day for walking around the lake, but it quickly clouded up and rained once I got home. I've been seeing a lot of Red Winged Blackbirds around the lake and today I managed to get a picture of one.
The picture is not very good because I had to zoom in, but at least I got a picture of one.
Road work continues on the road along the side of my house today even though it was raining. Part of the road got paved.
Ken took a vacation day today and he drove me around for Meals on Wheels. I'm down to 7 people again on my route because one lady moved in with her daughter. I'm glad to report that all my people were well and happy today! :-) It's late afternoon now and I'm not sure what we will be doing for the rest of the day. We will probably go out to eat somewhere again. It is after all a vacation day for Ken. He is taking one tomorrow too. :-) Hope all is fine in your part of the world and your day is full of sunshine. Happyone :-)

What a cute idea for your headboard! Love the little extras, too.

Gosh, you and I would make a great team. Last night, I baked cookies and found the egg sitting on the counter after I was all done.

Lots of rain here. Hope that we see the sun again soon.

I really like the headboard -- you've done a great job. I hope you feel it was worth all the trouble you had getting the fence section from Lowe's and up the stairs. I have to admit you look like a pro on that Kubota!

I was wondering what you were planning to do with such a small section of fence. What a cute idea and I love the addition of the flowers and bird house. Very clever.

Love the headboard. It really brings out the colors in the quilt.

BTW, Yes, that is a telephone pole in the middle of the road! The power co. moved their wires and cut off the top of the pole. The lower half remains and the telephone co. (Verizon) has not yet shown up to move their cables and fiber. I hope it gets moved before someone hits the pole and we lose our internet!

Well, that headboard is really neat. I could see something like that in my home if my bedroom was bigger. It is very small and cramped but still, I think that is a very clever idea! It's really quite adorable!
