Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Book number one and a new table

I'm here back at the old house again. It sure will be nice when Monday comes along and I'll be able to be on line at home again. It's getting old going back and forth.
I did read in front of the fireplace Tuesday night and finished reading
The Accidental Mother by Rowan Coleman.
Sophie is single, has a great career and loves her life. When she learns that her best friend since childhood dies leaving two young girls with no one to care for, her world suddenly changes. I enjoyed the book and thought it was very good. A couple of quotes I liked from the book. She looked at the pink toes of her new boots and knew she just had to accept that her day wasn't going to go the way she had planned, because nobody knew better than she did that sometimes your life turns itself on its head without asking you for permission. That's what I love about humanity. Just when you start thinking the whole world's full of selfish, cruel individuals, you realize that actually, given the chance, all we want to do is be nice to one another and help each other. If any of you are looking for a book for your book club I think this would be a good one. There are even some book discussion questions at the end of the book. This is the first book I've finished reading this year. Not such a good start for a goal to read 75 during the year!!
I stayed home yesterday to wait for my new kitchen table to be delivered. I am happy to say it came mid morning and was delivered by two very nice men.
The table is higher than a normal table and we need to go out any buy some tall chairs for it. These tall tables seem to be the new thing. Lots of them out there. I didn't like the chairs that went with the table but have found some I like and will get them once Kenny gets back home.
This old wire plant stand I have in the kitchen on one side of the island.
A sitting area in the living room by the front windows.Curtains for these windows are on their way in the mail.
Talking about windows - I have a bit of a problem with the windows. The bottom part of the window comes forward for easy cleaning and is fine. The problem is the top window. Not only doesn't it pull forward to clean it, it doesn't even open. I was reading the information sheet about the windows thinking I was missing something and it said, the outside of the window will get clean from a good rain!!! How crazy is that!!
This next picture is taken from sitting in the chair by the living room windows looking into the kitchen.
Yesterday I cleaned some windows the best I could and ironed the curtains that I have so far. In the afternoon my daughter Debbi, and grandkids Antonio and Taryn came by for a visit. Always great to see them!! :-) I'm back at the old house today packing up still more stuff. It sounds like a lot of trips but remember I'm bringing stuff in a Corvette so I can't really take all that much. Once Kenny gets back with the FJ we will be able to finish things up. We really have plenty of time because the house isn't even for sale yet. I wish you all a great Thursday and hope that it will be a Happy One for you. :-)

Thanks for the book review...love to learn about a new book.

Oh my! It's all coming together so nicely...everything looks great.

Your new table is great! What do you suppose is the reasoning behind the taller table? Easier work surface?

Hmmm, interesting about those upper windows.

I really like the table. It looks like the Arts & Crafts style which is one of my favorites. Funny, I almost emailed you about the 4 chairs when I got your comment. I was going to ask you for picture of how it looks - and here they are. That might be a good idea for me with my space constraints.

could you rig up a squeegy on a stick, maybe an 'L' shape to get to the windows from the inside?

Your place is looking great.

Everything at your new house is looking great. That is strange about the windows. Never heard of such a thing.

The book sounds like one I would enjoy. Thanks for sharing.

Love the way everything is coming together for you. The kitchen table is just lovely, looks like it has some storage under it. I'm looking into getting a new table and I think the taller height is a great idea, kind of like a pub table. Can't wait to see what type of chair you put with it. The living room looks so inviting, my daughter Tracy just loves swans.

HAVE FUN WITH ALL YOUR DECORATING. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MORE!!!

I love all your fabulous furniture. I could really enjoy sitting by the sun in that rocker. I'll bet you'll spend some nice hours there. The kitchen table is great, with that storage space under it. Enjoy!
