Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

What are the odds?

Our Christmas was nice. Debbi and the kids came over and spent some time with us. Debbi made us some Pumpkin Cookies that are sooooo good and I put out the cookies and cakes that I made Christmas Eve and we all ate way too many cookies. Today I promised myself that I would not any eat during the day but save them for my evening snack.
The last present that I was working on Christmas Eve was a bookmark I made for Kenny.
I finished it up just before he came home. As with all cross stitch projects that I make it takes me much longer than I think. :-)
Late yesterday afternoon we wanted to get out of the house for a bit so naturally we took a drive past the townhouse. We just couldn't believe that the painters were working on Christmas Day!! They were painting the front doors. All were painted except ours but I'm sure it's red now! Some of you may remember me mentioning the "Homeless Man" who isn't homeless who lives in town and panhandles down on the corner of Route 1. Yesterday leaving the townhouse just a couple of blocks away at the red light, who do we see but our "Homeless Man" standing there panhandling!! Of all the other corners to pick what are the odds of him picking a new corner 12 miles away right by our new house? Crazy huh? His little blue car was parked up the road - so now I call him the "Commuting Homeless Man." Today I spent a part of the day reading and finishing Alexander McCall Smith's latest book in the 44 Street Scotland Series called The World According to Bertie. This is the 4th in the series and it was as good as all the rest. Bertie, a 6 year old little boy is my favorite character in this series. He has quite a mother to put up with. This is one part that had me laughing. "I think you should spend more time with Olive," said Irene. "She's a very nice girl, and I know that you like her." Bertie shook his head. "I don't like Olive, Mummy. I hate her." "Now, Bertie!" scolded Irene. "That's simply not true." Bertie sighed. When he told the truth, as he had just done, he was accused of lying. But if he lied, and said that he liked Olive, his mother would nod her approval. The world, he thought, was a very confusing place. Another Bertie thought. I think the world is nice. I think that it is very sad that there are people who are unkind to one another. I also think that it is sad that there are people who want to kill other people just because they do not like them. I think that we should share things, and not be selfish. The book was due at the library today so when Kenny came home from work we dropped it off and then went out to eat at Five Guys. We got the movie Click from Netflix to watch for tonight and I'm going to start a quick and easy knitting project that I should finish up pretty quick. I hope you are all enjoying your Friday. :-)

I had a lovely Friday and am glad you did, too. So weird about the commuting pseudo-homeless guy!

Commuting homeless man sounds pretty funny! But the irony of his moving that far away and so close to you again is too much!

Does the homeless guy know you? Do you know if he sleeps in his car? Have you ever talked to him? Just wondering.

Did you hear how warm it's going to be tomorrow? Windy and wet but warm.

Hi HappyOne - what a beautiful bookmark. I like the Bertie philosphy items that you wrote about. It must be confusing to be a child and interacting with the strange world of adults. Art

Cheryl - The " homeless man" lives in town in a house. He is not really homeless!! I know him and he has seen me but doesn't know me. He has been in prison for 30 years for murder and he's really a scary guy!! He just leers at you when you walk by.

I walked this morning and it was 60 degrees!!!
