Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Work begins tomorrow

We enjoyed another nice weather day here in Maryland - cool with sun and clouds.

It was a Meals on Wheels day for me and I drove the FJ. Lots of crazy drivers out there today, the craziest being someone backing up in a circle of all places!!
I delivered meals to my regular 4 people and I had a new person on my route today. I found her house pretty easily being she lives in my town only 2 blocks from where I live. She is an elderly lady and I always start out by calling my people Mrs but she insisted I call her by her first name which is Janice. She said I looked familiar to her and I told her she probably saw me walking past her house which I do just about every morning. She is very nice and already friendly and talkative - we will get on fine! :-)

I got back home around 1:00 and soon after Ken came home early from work. We had a 2:00 pre-construction meeting with Nate, the builder of our town house. It was just to make sure everything was as it should be - it was and we had no surprises.
This was the first time meeting Nate and I'm not sure I like him or not. He had to tell us 3 or 4 times how honest he was.
The good news is that they break ground first thing in the morning. I'm sure I'll be taking lots of pictures of the progress. Now they are saying we will be in the house at the end of January. I'm still sticking to my prediction of February like I said right from the start.

We did a few errands around town one of which was to get in a new supply of ice cream. Tonight though I think I'm going to go with chocolate chip cookies for my snack. The ice cream will put me over my calorie limit today. I will look forward to having the ice cream tomorrow.

There is no question now that I'm growing out my gray or should I say silver hair and that I'm not just over due in dying it. People are now starting to comment on it to me. Most say nice things.
Here is a picture that Ken took of me yesterday.
Ken has gone from calling me skunk head to snowy top. He also calls me his silver haired beauty. Isn't he nice!!?

I still haven't gotten outside to mow the lawn. I'm planning on doing that tomorrow. I hope I wake up tomorrow and still feel like doing that because I really need to get it done.

I hope you all had a great Monday!!

  1. Well, you know who to talk to if you want to cut the color out!

It was a gorgeous day. I wasn't out much, though.

I'm so excited about your house! The adventure begins. I hope it's a great experience for you. We hired our own home inspector to check out the house as it was being built. It was money well spent. The only thing he didn't catch was the ductwork in the basement. Too many turns means a very hot upstairs. Keep an eye on yours.

  2. You must be excited to be breaking ground on your new home. I'm so glad you came back to blogging so we can all see how it turns out.

  3. We broke ground on our home in October and moved in February. Your smart to not have high hopes in getting in before February. Good luck and post pics...

  4. Your hair is a beautiful shade of silver...not gray, definitely silver. You're going to love it!

Hope that your weather stays perfect for lawn mowing.

  5. I agree, your hair is definitely silver. I wish my hair had turned silver instead of this dumb washed out whatever color it is.

I'm excited about your new home beginning construction. I always wonder about anyone who has to tell me how honest they are, too. My experience is that those folks are trying to convince themselves. Carry your camera and you'll do fine.

  6. Why did he tell you 3 or 4 times about his honesty? Keep an eye on him. lol. I'm sure everything will be OK. You silver hair looks nice.

  7. I hope every thing goes smoothly with the new house. Fingers crossed!

I agree with Dick - any one who has to detail how honest they are needs watching.

    And I love silver hair.

  8. Just come across your blog from 'Ruta's Ramblings' and have to say - I love silver! My Grandfather had the most graceful white hair and my mother has beautiful silver hair - turning white. I really think it looks so much more graceful and complimentary to the complexion that constant hair touch-ups - and the thought of all those chemicals really doesn't bear thinking about! I'm only in my early thirties so have a little way to go yet... but I'm definitely planning on being a proud silver lady! :)

Hello my friend.
