Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

The snake

Yesterday when I was at the stamping workshop I sat next to a woman named Eleanor. We got to talking and we discovered that we go walking along the same path along the river. We have never seen each other because she usually goes later than I do. Today I walked a little later than usual and what a surprise it was to see Eleanor walking along the path with a friend!! We stopped a chatted for a bit. :-) I also came across this snake taking a nap on the paved part of the path. I took these three pictures.I went on line when I got home to see what kind it was and it looks to me like a copperhead! Does any one know for sure what it is? The end of the month is when I add up the miles I've walked for the month. This month I walked 188.9 miles. So far this year the miles total 1,885.

It sure looks like a copper - You brave soul you!

It's a good thing you get good mileage and won't be traded in for something more fuel efficient!

Happy Halloween!

Aargh, poisonous snakes. Thank goodness it didn't get angry. Our only nasty snake is the adder which is very shy.
Re- Birthday's name, when I was asked to home him Peter had already said 4 cats was enough so we sneaked him in and then told Peter that the cat was Peter's birthday present to me and as he is a typical man who finds present chosing very difficult he gave in with good grace.

I would have been too freaked out to stop and take pictures. You are so brave. I would love to walk with you on your beautiful trail that you walk.

I just can't stand snakes of any kind. They say they are really out crawling this time of the year.

I hope you were using your zoom for those pictures!

So glad you got to see Elanor. Small world!

That's a lot of mileage. What's the most you've walked? You'll have to tell me some time.

That's pretty scary, but then it is Halloween. You were using your Zoom, right?

Sounds like your walk is a beautiful place to be, and found the photos of your snake very interesting, great photos in fact. I have never seen a copperhead before and at least I can identify one if I ever do.
