Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Clothes, Cats, and Smells

Lots of sunshine today and also lots of wind. A good day to hang wash out on the line.
I took this picture is just for you Cheryl. .
My dog Sam died quite a few years ago now and I still miss her a LOT. I'm to the point now where I really miss having a pet around the house. I don't want to get another dog because I don't want to be tied down. I like how we can come and go and not worry about how long we stay out or if we want to go somewhere for the weekend. I think a cat would be better but, though I like cats, I'm not really a cat person. Looking around on line I came across a breed of cat called Ocicat which is supposed to have some dog like characteristics. They are large short haired, muscular cats that have spots on them like a leopard. Supposedly they follow you around like dogs and like going for walks on a leash. They can be trained to come when called, fetch and a few other things.
I found a place in Waynesboro, Pa where a woman named Trudy breeds them. The website says they always have kittens around to buy and welcomes people to come up to look at the cats. I think Ken and I have a little trip to Waynesboro in the near future. I've sent an email off to Trudy to see when we could come up and have a look at the cats. I wouldn't want to get one just yet though, but would wait until we are settled in our new town house. Which looks like it will be sometime in the spring.

There is a strange thing going on in the closet in our bedroom which has been happening on and off for a long time. Every once in a while there is a strange smell - not a bad smell - some kind of perfume. The strange thing is that I don't wear perfume and it isn't any kind that I've smelled before. It's not on the clothes but just in the air. I'm not the only one who smells it, Ken has too. Our house is over 100 years old so maybe we have our own ghost who pays us a visit every so often. :-)

I had another kind of smell in the house today - this one of the baking kind. I made apple cinnamon muffins. No recipe for these - just a mix, but they taste yummy! I'll send a couple along with Ken to work tomorrow for his breakfast.

Ken is off to another glass class this evening. I am going to knit a white afghan square and then read. I will wait for Ken to come home so we can have our evening snack together. I am trying to make up my mind - should I have ice cream or cookies. Right at the moment I'm leaning toward cookies.

Another happy day in the life of happyone. Hope yours was a happy one too. :-)

  1. Love to see laundry on a line...that picture is just great.

Wow...everything from a cat I've never heard of to perfume in the closet belonging to ???? Very intriguing post today!

  2. When I was cat-sitting, I took care of a few Ocicats. They have a feral look, but are sweet, intelligent, pretty cats. I think they are a Siamese/Abyssinian hybrid.

I've never had a purebred cat, but every cat I've ever had would follow me like a dog. And most would come when I whistle, including my current group. Really! In general, I think it's a matter of love and bonding.

I'm fascinated with the paranormal. Wish I had a ghost in my house!

  3. I've heard several stories over the years of folks having ghosts who manifested themselves as scents that people wore. Maybe you do have a kindly spirit there?

  4. I skipped over the ghost part. I don't do ghosts.

Thanks for the clothesline pic. Loved it. Loved your skywatch pics too.
