Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Blue bins, banana bread & a beautiful day

The other day as I was driving down the street coming home there were new big blue plastic recycling bins in front of everyone's house. I was so glad to get one of these. It's nice and big and everything can be mixed together - no more sorting. This picture shows all the stuff we can recycle together in this one bin. Maybe now more people will recycle in my town. Yesterday was the first day we all got to use them and it looked nice to see so many of these big blue bins out in front of so many yards. :-) I had a couple of really ripe bananas so I baked some banana bread yesterday and have put the recipe in Happyone'sCookbook. I found the recipe searching through MealsMatter. This recipe was very good - much better than the one I usually use. I've only eaten a half a slice but I gave Ken some to take to work today for his breakfast. We finished watching the second season of Dexter last night. That sure didn't take long to get through a whole season. We did watch a couple of shows in one night though because the shows kept ending with a cliff hanger and we didn't feel like waiting for the next day. The last episode of the season was not a cliff hanger which was a surprise. I think the third season will start on television this month and we will have to wait until next year I guess to see it on Netflix. We went to Giant to get our next supply of ice cream in. I tried their brand of chocolate chip and it was okay but not nearly as good as the Weis brand. The other kind of ice cream we got is called Andes Creme De Menthe which was Giant brand too and oh boy was that good!! Its creme de menthe ice cream swirled with milk chocolate fudge and creme de menthe chips. Did you notice that the ice cream containers are getting smaller as the price goes up? Ice cream used to come in 1/2 gallon size containers, now the size is 1.75 quarts. Here's a picture I took in my front yard. As the flowers are dying this morning glory blooms.
Life and Death
It is one beautiful day outside here in Maryland. The sun has come out after some morning clouds and it's clear and cool out. I have a couple of loads of wash hanging out on the line and going to bed tonight on those wonderful smelling sheets will be heavenly. :-) After my lunch today I am going outside to pick up lots of tree branches that are all over the yard after the heavy rain we had on Saturday and last night. It's certainly a great day for it. Hope your Wednesday is bright and happy too.

It's late and I'm bushed! This traveling is rough on old folks. I just had to take a minute to say that I'm so glad you decided to return to blogging. It was sad to think that you wouldn't be here. More when I've rested a bit.

My county has big yellow recycle bins and we don't have to sort a thing. Still, so many people don't recycle. I see their trash on my morning walks and it's a shame to see paper and plastic going out and not recycled. In some places, they'd refuse to take that. Not here.

I was so surprised when I got out of work and found it to be cool. I missed that day.
