Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

The Art Car

I have a book called Weird Maryland (there is a different one for all of the states) and in this book one of the weird things is a man who has turned his vehicles into what he calls Art Cars.
I've seen him driving around once or twice but yesterday in the parking lot of Staples I saw one of his vehicles parked so I took these pictures of it. This vehicle he calls the Magnet Truck and is a 1995 GMC pickup. Pretty weird huh?
Car number 2 is the Party Car and that is a 1966 Pontiac Catalina splattered with paint.
A third car is a 1965 Dodge Coronet he has painted in rectangles of primary colors with trophies on it.
Car number 4 is a 1990 Pontiac Grand Am covered with red hands and he calls it Handy.

The owner of these cars is Conrad Bladey. He is a sometimes high school teacher, Irish studies specialist, folk artist and a musician. Sounds like a real character!!

  1. Yes, after reading what this car is not, he does sound like a real character. A fun one!

  2. We have a book called Weird New Jersey. Has quite a few interesting things in it that I never knew about New Jersey.

  3. You're not going to believe this, but Emily and I saw that car outside Baja Fresh at Arundel Mills on Wednesday night. She ran outside to see it and I followed. I've seen it around before, but it was Emily's first time. Small world, huh?

  4. That is definitely weird! I found some neat places in the Weird Georgia book.
