Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A brand new penny

A steamy 72 degrees and cloudy out there this morning on my walk.  No special route, just walked here and there.  I was rewarded finding two quarters walking in the liquor store parking lot and a penny in another parking lot.
Walked a shorter than usual because it's Sunday and have to get home and get ready for church.
My steps today on my walk were 8642.
********************
The penny I found was in pretty bad shape and I'm surprised I even noticed it on the ground.
It made me think how sometimes we may feel like an old used up penny that no one would want.  We might have made some wrong decisions, bad things might have happened to us or life just doesn't seem to be going our way.
But we don't have to feel that way. : )

John 3:16
For God so loved the world
that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish
but have everlasting life.

Romans 15:13
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

God can make us feel like a brand new penny! : )
 Have a blessed Sunday.
Happyone : )

A beautiful post. The comparison and the verses from the Bible were perfect.

I like your analogy. Haven't felt like a new penny lately, though... ☺

Karen..I love your anology of the old penny versus the new penny. We give our 11 year old grandson our extra change which he enjoys collecting then turning it into cash. The change counting machine at the bank jams whenever an old bent coin tries to go through it.We have learned to spend the old bent coins and give our grandson all of the "perfect" coins.Last week we took his change jar to the bank.He was so excited to see the change count up in the machine and have none rejected. He had a total of $60 in change. He had guessed that amount since he has one of those jars that counts the change as you drop it in.

Loved your post - I wonder how long the old penny had lain waiting to be found.
