Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Hanging out with the grandkids

The weather sure changes a lot from morning to morning. Yesterday on my walk the temperature was a cold 28 and today it was a warmish 40 degrees. The music poll is now closed and I see most people don't like music on blogs so I won't be adding music on mine. Yesterday I went over to my daughters house to spend some time with my two oldest grandkids, Antonio and Taryn. The dog looking up at them is Giles. They were pleased to see me but it could have just been those chocolate chip cookies that I brought over. :-) I think Giles is hoping for a piece of the cookie that Antonio is eating. No, he didn't get any. He has his own dog goodies. My daughter wasn't home so it was just me and the kids and we had a great time just hanging out and talking.
Here is the afghan that I'm knitting for Nola.
I have 11 strips done so far with 8 more to go.
It's pretty slow going because I just knit 2 or 3 rows a night. There are 303 stitches per row. I was hoping to make some of my Christmas cards this afternoon but the sun was out and the temperature went up to 52 degrees so I thought it would be a good time to wash my car. We won't be getting many warm days like this. So now my car is sparkling clean and shiny red again and the cards are still not made. I suppose I could start the cards now but I feel more like reading. The cards will be a good project for tomorrow. Maybe when Ken comes home from work we'll take a ride over to the townhouse to see if the front stoop and steps are finished. If we do I'll post some pictures later tonight. Enjoy your day and make this Thursday a Happy One! Edit - The picture is angled like that because I was sitting down when I took the picture of Antonio and Taryn but they are tall. Antonio is 17 and 6' tall. Taryn is 15 and I think she is 5'7". Yes, they are happy and very very good kids!!! Giles, the dog is a beagle. :-)

Why ask

Started the day as usual with a morning walk. Walked 6.5 miles through the woods along the river. Not many people out which was surprising since it was so nice out.

Stayed home and got things done around the house. I cleaned the upstairs, ironed Ken's shirts, and baked some chocolate chip cookies. I will be spending some time tomorrow with my two oldest grandkids and the cookies are for them.

Last week I got an email from Sharon at the library who is in charge of the volunteer programs. As some of you may know I've been wanting to take books to and from the library for people who can't get there themselves. I have done this for a few people in the past and just can't seem to get started doing it again. It seems there is not such a great need for this service around here or maybe it's Sharon not being able to get anything organized. Anyway Sharon said she had some one who wanted to receive books and asked me if I could meet her at Mrs C's house sometime this week. I gave her two days that would be good. Monday afternoon and any time today Tuesday. I get an email from her late this afternoon asking if I could meet her there tomorrow at 11:00. Why did she bother asking me what day was good? If she told me a day I would have planned my week around when it was good for her. I had to tell her no I had other plans.

The chocolate ice cream yesterday was pretty good with the hard shell on it but not as good as we thought it would be. We don't have any chocolate chip so I'm going to pass on the ice cream tonight. There are still two pieces of pumpkin pie left and I think I'll have one of those later.

A Six Feet Under Netflix came in the mail today so we will watch an episode of that depressing show. I'll knit some more on Nola's afghan while watching that and then read. I'm more than half way finished with Nola's afghan. :-)

That's about it for this Tuesday and I hope it was a Happy One for you!
