Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Wednesday

This morning it was 47 degrees, cloudy and windy.
A drive to town and I walked all around town,
both cemeteries and the ball park.

Saw a couple of deer on the side of the road and an opossum run across the
road on my way to town.

Lena and Pam were walking around town too and we passed
each other quite a few times!

Pretty quiet around town.
There must have been no school today because I didn't see any school buses.

Walked 5.8 miles

☁️     🙂     🌬

Looked like rain this morning but mid morning it cleared up
and the sun was shining though it did stay windy.
Lots of leaves coming down today.

Just did the regular house chores in the morning.
After lunch we drove out to Lowe's to get a few things.
All stores require face masks and wore mine
but it sure was nice to get outside and take it off and
breathe again.

Read this afternoon.
I persevered with trying to get library books on my Kindle
and glad I did because now have no problems at all. 🙂

That's all I have for today.
A happy Wednesday to you. 🍭
Thanks for stopping by once again.

Rainy Day

57 degrees this morning, cloudy and windy and a little
mist in the air once in a while.
Another drive to town and a walk over to the industrial park.
Continued walking all around town,
the ball park loop and the lower cemetery.

Saw Lena and Jim walking and a dog walker.

Nothing happening around town this morning,
but still nice to be out walking.

Walked 6 miles

Sorry no walking pictures today.

☁️     🙂     🌧

A picture from yesterday up the lane.

Not back home from walking very long when it started raining and has
been raining all day.  It's been a while since we had a rainy day.

We headed on over to the Shop and Save for our usual food shopping day.

I've been knitting a scarf for Liz (sons girlfriend) and today I finished it.
It is purple and after I started it found out that purple is
Liz's favorite color.
It looks more pink in the picture than it actually is.

Did quite a lot of reading this afternoon too.
A rainy day seems like a good day for that.

That's going to be it for today.
A happy Tuesday to all.
Thanks for stopping by.

Monday

Mornings have gotten warmer again and today the temperature
was 59 degrees when I left on my walk.
There was a mix of sun and clouds and no wind.
A drive to town and a random walk all over the place.

The bulls were out down by the Drane house.
Toady there were 5 of them and the little horse was still there too.

Took this picture of the Drane house from the cemetery.

A busy day around town on this Monday morning.
A house getting a new roof,
a new sidewalk getting put in,
and a lawn getting mowed.

Passed by the day care center and saw a couple little ones
getting their temperature taken before being allowed to go inside.

Lena and Jim were out walking and we passed each other a couple of times.

It was such a pretty morning to be out walking.
Walked 6 miles
Found a penny 💰

🌤     🙂     🌤

This morning I could be seen doing laundry and hanging out the sheets,
vacuuming, dusting and cleaning the bathroom.
Did it all in a rush because I didn't feel like doing it.
Wanted to be up at the cabin working with Ken.
By 11:00 I was finished with my work and walked up to the cabin.
He was busy putting up siding on the outhouse.
I ended up being his gofer again and handed up pieces of siding
to him while he was on the ladder.

Back to the house for lunch and afterwards went back to the cabin.
It clouded up and we felt a few drops of rain but before long
the sun was back out again.
The roof and three sides are done on the outhouse.
The back still needs to be done as well as the inside
but here's what it looks like as of the end of today.

Got back home too late to eat apples on the porch, too close to suppertime.

Supper this evening was frozen pizza
which hit the spot for us.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
A happy Monday to all.

He's Always There

 Happy Sunday

He's Always There

I'm a participant in the adventure of life,
Now, I can make it trouble or I can make it strife.

I can let my face show a scowl or maybe a frown,
When others say things are looking up, I can look down.

But life here is really short, from beginning to end;
The Bible tells me I might expect threescore and ten.

So, I've got to make my life count for something good.

I want to be able to say, I helped all I could.

So, when my time comes to go, and I leave here below,
May friends say that kindness to others did I show.

For I have a Master you can see, most faithful to behold,
And He's building me a home, on a street of pure gold.

So, I'm going to wear a smile, as wide as a country mile.

And I'll share some cheer, before I think of leaving here.

So, if you are feeling low, and life's not being quite fair,
Then left you eyes toward Jesus, for He is always there.

Finished

55 degrees, cloudy and a little sunshine this morning when I walked.

Parked at the town pond once again and walked all over town.
Pretty quiet on this early Saturday morning
and didn't see any other people about.

Did see a lot of flying geese though.
They are hard to see in this first picture but they are there!
You will have to enlarge photo to see them.  Look just above the sun.

These are easier to see.

A splash of fall color.

Walked around both cemeteries and the ball park too.

A nice quiet 5.8 mile walk.

⛅️     🙂     ⛅️

We went to the Dollar General to use that coupon we got the other day.
I didn't see Lena walking today but did see her in the store!

Spent a good part of the day working on outlining the counted cross stitch
and very happy to say that it is now finished.

Before Outlining

 Outlining Completed

Now I can start on the next cross stitch project.

That's all folks.
Thanks for stopping by.

Cabin

53 degrees this morning with a mix of sun and clouds on my walk.
A drive to town and walked all over town.
Went over to the industrial park and walked around there.

Saw Lena out walking and we walked together about a mile and had a nice visit.
Though I do like walking alone best it is nice to walk with a friend for a little way once in a while.

Didn't see anyone else out walking.

Walked 6 miles

⛅️     🙂     🌤

We both went up to the cabin today to work on the outhouse and
I also got more wood burned in the fire barrel.
Other than coming back to the house for lunch we stayed
up there all day.

The cabin.

About 10 years ago we bought the property and named it Happy Trails.
At the time we lived in central Maryland and had no plans to
move here to western MD.
We built the cabin and it was to be a get away for weekends
to get away from the all the traffic and crowds.

Once we starting coming up here though it was harder and harder to go
back to the crowds and after a couple of years decided to move
move up here.
Still we didn't move to Happy Trails but bought a house in town in 2013.
We would come up here to Happy Trails for fun, it was like having
our very own park.

After a while we thought why don't we just have a house built
and move to Happy Trails.
So that is what we did and have been living here in the woods for 2 years.

The cabin now is used by David when he comes to visit.

No Soliciting Sign 🙂

52 degrees this morning and cloudy and calm.
Another drive to town and a walk up and down all the streets
in town and the usual loops.

Some leaves are changing colors and other trees are completely green yet.
This tree is across the street from the library.

Walked past a couple of fields and the smell was pretty potent as
they spread manure over it.
Living in farm country though you do get used to it.

Rebecca was out running this morning
and other woman was out running too.
Don't know her name though - she is a serious runner and goes by
too fast say more than a good morning to her.
Saw another walker for the first time and another first timer
was a man walking a big white dog.

There are a few houses around town that are empty and
sad to see that they are falling down a little at a time.
This one is right on the main road.

I like this no soliciting sign that caught my eye as I walked past and
I stopped to take a picture of it.

By the time I was back at the Jeep I had
walked 6 miles.

☁️     🙂     ☁️

Ken went up to the cabin to work on the outhouse
while I stayed home and got a few house chores done in the morning.
But at 10:45 I was done and walked up the lane
(took picture just before I turned up our driveway)

to see how he was doing and there he was working on the roof.

We went back to the house for lunch and then drove the ATV
back to the cabin afterwards.

While Ken did some more work on the outhouse
 I cleared some more brush.

Got the fire barrel going and burned up some old scrap wood.
That's a job I like to do.

Home around 3:00 and we sat on the porch and ate apples.
Still throwing my apple cores and happy to say my
core landed right in the middle of our mini pond. 🙂

 That's all for today.
Thanks for stopping by.
A happy Thursday to you.

The sunny days continue

42 degrees and clear when I drove to town and once the sun
rose at 7:07 it was sunny.

Enjoyed my walk around town once again.
Walked all over the place and around all my usual loops.

Walked a ways up Sale Barn Road and back again.

Said Good Morning to the old gentleman who walks to the bakery
each Wednesday for his fresh baked donuts.

Farmer Marvin's, son, I think his name is Austin was down fixing the
gate where the little horse escaped a few days ago.

Usually a car or two will pass by me at a time as I walk along
but today I counted 11 cars all in a row pass by.
That's a lot for here.

Walking back here to the Jeep and a drive home.

 Walked 6.1 miles

☀️     🙂     ☀️

Got a few house chores done in the morning.

Today was another nice sunny one but the wind did kick up a bit.
Puttered about outside because it was too nice to stay inside.
We drove the ATV around Happy Trails a bit too.

That's it for today.
Thanks for visiting.
A happy Wednesday to you.

Another sunny day

Walked in the sunshine this morning and it was 39 degrees and calm.
Walked around town and then over to the industrial park and around there.
Back through town and over to the baseball park and walked that loop too.
Then on over to the cemetery on top of the hill.
Walked around there a couple of times.

The three pictures are taken by the cemetery.
Arriving

The field/pasture behind it.

Walking back down the hill to the Jeep.

Didn't see anyone else out walking on this cool, crisp, sunny,
beautiful morning.

Walked 5.8 miles
Sunrise 7:06

☀️     🙂     ☀️

Food Shopping Day.
First we stopped at the Dollar General
and got most of the things we needed there.
Some of things we didn't need right away we didn't get because
if you shop there during the week you get a $5 off coupon to
use if you come back again on Saturday and spend $25.

Then on to the Shop and Save for the rest of the things on our list.

Our neighbor Ron stopped by the house again with lots of
tomatoes from his garden for us.  He picked all the green ones because he
was afraid they would freeze one of these mornings.

It's been another beautiful sunny day.
I can't remember the last time we had so many sunny days in a row
and we sure are enjoying them.

Thanks for stopping by.
A happy Tuesday to you.

Needs a trim

38 degrees this morning and sunny once the sun came over the mountain.

Had another walk all around town and around all the usual loops
I like to walk.

This picture is taken from the lower cemetery.
The barn on the far left is the new one that I took pictures of its progress.
Those pictures were taken from the main road.
Now that most of the corn has been cut down I can see the barns
from the cemetery again.

The field behind the cemetery up on the hill has cows in it again.
These cows seems to get moved around quite often.
Here's a youngish one looking at me.

Down past the Drane house one of the little horses were in with the bulls.
I think her bangs could do with a trim.

Another little horse escaped somehow and was wandering around
inside the fence by the Drane house.
I told Lena who I saw walking a few minutes later.
Her brother is Farmer Marvin and she called to tell him about the horse.

Looked up and saw some geese flying by.

Walked 5.8 miles

☀️     🙂     ☀️

Ken's phone wasn't charging so we made a trip to the phone store.
Turns out that the connections just needed cleaning.
Nice to find a quick solution that didn't cost anything!

While out we stopped at the dump and got rid of some more stuff
that Ken cleared out of the tractor barn.

It's been a sunny cool day with a breeze and just perfect weather
for drying sheets on the line.
They always smell nice but when it is cool they smell even better!!

Ken got a Thank You card in the mail today.
It was from our Pastor thanking Ken for the work he did
removing the sidewalk last week.
We thought how nice it was that Pastor took the time to do that. 🙂

Still working on the outlining of the cross stitch.
I keep thinking I'll be done in a day or two but it never seems to end.
Very time consuming but what a difference it makes.

Thanks for stopping by.
A happy Monday to you.

A happy visit

Had my usual walk around town this morning.
Walked up and down all the streets, around both cemeteries,
and the ball park loop as well.

It was clear and 34 degrees.
Even had a light frost in places.

Saw Rebecca out walking around town two different times.
It was a quiet early Saturday morning.

By the time I get back in the Jeep from walking I'm pretty warm
and have to turn on the defroster because I fog up the windows.

Driving home just before getting to the house I stopped to let
6 deer walk slowly across the street.

Walked 5.5 miles
By the time I was home the sun was out and shining.

☀️     🙂     ☀️

Got a couple of pictures of the buck that comes around the house.
I named him Billy.  Don't know why but Billy just popped into my head.

We've had such an enjoyable day with David and Liz.
Just great to be able to spend time with them.
We walked all over Happy Trails and really just visited and talked
and talked.  They plan to come up again soon.

That's it for today.
A happy Saturday to all.

Waiting

When I walked this morning it was 55 degrees and cloudy.
Started my walk from parking lot at the pond.
The lighted fountain in the pond - you can see how dark it is at 6:35.

Walked through down, passed our old house and over to the industrial
park and walked a couple of miles around in there.

This road runs between the industrial park and the main road.
A nice quiet road that ends in a court - walked to the end and back.

Walked back through town and around the ball park loop a few times
and then back to the Jeep and home.

Lisa and Dwayne were out walking and also saw a man walking
his dog who I've seen once in a while.  Nice that the dog was friendlly
and on a leash.

Saw a couple deer on the way to town in the headlights.
Have to keep a sharp eye out for them in the dark of the early morning.

Walked 6 miles
Sunrise - 7:02
Sunset - 7:19

I spent the morning making Macaroni Salad and Chocolate Chippers.

Our son David and his girlfriend Liz are coming for a visit from
NC for the weekend and they will be staying in the cabin.
So this afternoon we went and tidied up the cabin for them.
I left the cookies on the table in the cabin.
I'm sure David knows that I'll be baking him the cookies
(I do every time he comes) 🙂
but thought it would be a nice surprise when they walk in and see them.

The afternoon seemed long but that's because we were waiting for
David and Liz.
I kept busy around the house and read.

They should be arriving any time now at the house and then later
will go on up to the cabin.

Thanks for stopping by.
A happy Friday to you.
