No pictures today from my walk.
I accidentally erased all the pictures I took with my camera this morning
while walking. Went to download them from camera to computer and
realized they were all gone.
It was 54 degrees this morning and sunny.
Had a random walk today and walked all over the place.
Saw Peggy again and stopped to talk to her for a little while.
She walks very sporadically.
Walking past the new Bakery/Deli that they have been working on it seems
like forever and they put a sign out front that says opening late September.
Work STILL going on inside.

Another nice sunny day and hung out more clothes.
Felt like a summer day with it being in the high 70's.

Haven't driven my car lately so I took a little ride this morning.
I was over by my swing and heard what I thought were birds in the bird house.
Went for a closer look and there was this eye looking at me.
I thought, that is no bird.
I backed away and waited. Not long after a little red squirrel came out and
ran away. You can see how it chewed the hole bigger.
Went back to look in the bird house and there is a least 2 baby
squirrels in there.

Ken went up to the building site while I was still out walking.
He spread out three truck loads of gravel with his tractor.

After lunch I went back with him.
There was a delay in the delivering of the block but it came today
along with the sand and mortar mix.
Ken is down in the hole guiding the block in place while the guy puts the block down.
There is still one more load of block and that will be delivered tomorrow
once the workers use up these.

This will be our new back yard.
Made a new recipe for supper which I got out of the new Taste of Home
magazine. It was pretty good and I'll post a picture and the recipe
in the next day or so on my recipe blog.

MK - the pink flowers pictured from my yard yesterday are Autumn Joy. I got a small plant 3 years ago and it has grown into two huge plants.

That eye is a bit creepy... ha! I find squirrels to be such stinkers. One has been trying to gnaw its way into the living room. It's been a battle royal between us. Sorry about the loss of the pictures. It can be most frustrating...I know.
Glad to read that the block was delivered ok in the end.
Looking forward to seeing your recipe.
All the best Jan
...I wish you good weather for the construction.
That was so kind of you to build the squirrel a little home :) It looks like you are making good progress on your new home too.
Diana
Oh my, I don't think I've ever seen baby squirrels before. Too funny that they have chosen your bird house. That's a good load of blocks.
Enjoyed this post as always, I too hung clothes out on the line today, I love the smell of fresh clothes that have been kissed by the sun, especially sheets.
It seems Peggy and I might have something in common , we are both sporadic walkers, and i am always chastising myself for this.
I can so relate to the excitement of building a new home, if I have any advice it would be 'To enjoy the ride". ~smile~
Thank you for sharing and thank you for visiting and leaving such a sweet note.
Blessings,
Sue
Amazing how she got in that hole. Guess that's a signal it's time to feather our nests for fall.
What a surprise that must have been for both you and the squirrel. Great to see things are shaping up nicely with your plans. Warm greetings and best wishes.
Those blocks just look like a big pile of hard work! Did a little concrete block work once, but never again! That should be a wonderful change for your back yard!
Those baby squirrels are so cute, yet I get a little annoyed when they take over my bird houses or feeders.
Hope all goes well with the construction :)
Oh my a squirrel in your beautiful birdhouse, how cute. Glad you didn't get too close though!!
Have an amazing day :)
Hello, I would have thought the baby animals have all left their nest by now. The squirrels must be late. The photo with the eye is weird. Is Ken helping to build the house too? Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!
I think it is sweet how the mamma squirrel made her home in the birdhouse. It's a nice dry spot to house her babies:) How exciting getting all those blocked delivered . . . you'll soon have a nice new home for yourselves, too:) We have never built, it must be thrilling seeing each step take place.
Have a happy day.
Connie :)
squirrels sure do like to leech off of bird things
I love the "squirrel house" photo.
Autumn Joy -- is that a sedum? It was beautiful. Your Ken reminds me of my daddy, when my parents were building a home in the NC mountains. He was there every day supervising. He was his own "general contractor" I think, hiring subs to do the work, etc. He was trained as an architect. The foundation layer is looking good! I know men love to have a project like that to do. My dad compiled an entire photo album just for the house build. I love watching through your blog!
I didn't know you have a recipe blog! I'm eager to hear about your new recipe.
I love red squirrels. It is too warm for them here.
That photo of the squirrel in the birdhouse is just so, so cute.
