Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Saturday's Critters

I'm linking up with Eileen today for Saturday's Critters.
Some kind of big duck and a seagull from the NJ shore.

Dark and wet this morning as I headed out for my morning walk dressed in my rain pants and yellow slicker.  It was on the warm side at 57 degrees and too hot to put the hood of  my slicker up so took along the umbrella too.  It rained during my whole walk.

When I left I thought I'd just walk 4 miles or so but once I had walked 4 miles I just kept on walking.  Nice to hear the rain on the umbrella and it was so quiet all over town.  I didn't see anyone else out and hardly saw any cars either.
 Walked 6.2 miles

The muffins were a hit last night and every one was eaten.

The day has been a rainy one, but we need the rain and it's been a nice steady rain.
I made more pumpkin muffins because Ken didn't get any yesterday.

It's been a relaxing day around the house.
I read and knitted and that is about it.

A happy day to you.

sometimes it's bad,
and there is nothing you can do about it

Hello, Great shot of the Cormorant and the Gull. I like the pretty tree and colors. It is raining here today, baking sounds like a good thing to do on a rainy day. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

Both great photos of the birds in NJ!
That was a lovely fall photo too of the red leaves on the tree by the pond.
glad Ken didn't miss out!

That first one is a cormorant, they dive and catch fish. Ton of rain here too. Matthew kind of wrecked our plans - we'd planned to leave to Hilton Head today for the week. But that is minor compared to all of the destruction, especially in Haiti.

Hi Happyone, You have added a great new header ... perfect for the season. And the leaves in the sidebars ... neat! In this post I enjoyed the ducks but my favorite is picture #4, the fall tree. On Oct 6, the bridge photo and the 5th picture with the sun behind the trees ... great! Thanks for sharing all on your blog!

You truly are a dedicated walker!! I used to walk in the rain....I've REALLY gotta get back to it, especially before the weather gets way too cold for me. The muffins sound really good. Did you post a recipe already? I'll go back a post or two and see! HOPE you have a great SONday.

I've walked in the rain and it can be very refreshing as long as the wind isn't blowing it in my face. The muffins sound wonderful. I hope Ken gets some from your next batch! Have a blessed Sunday.

Muffins sound delish! I need to bake some pumpkin today and puree it and make some pumpkin muffins :)
