Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

No morning walk but....

It rained and was windy all night and this morning was more of the same.  I thought about walking.  I don't mind walking in the rain, I don't mind walking in the wind, but with the two together I wasn't so sure.  There was a tornado watch too so with a little help from Ken I decided to skip my morning walk.

Without walking first this morning, it just didn't seem right and I couldn't get started with the work I had to do, though I did start out doing my exercise DVD and got that out of the way.  Then I read for a while. I spotted my knitting sitting on the chair and when I should have been doing other things I sat down and knitted and listened to the start of another audio book.

Just before noon I looked outside and though it was still windy the rain had stopped.  I spotted a little blue in the sky
and before I knew it I was outside walking on my way to the lake. :-)  It felt good to be outside.  There were a few other people walking and running around the lake too.  Two of them were regular morning walkers and like me once the rain stopped they just had to go for a walk!!  One of them said to me, "I see you couldn't stand not to walk either."
There were a few trees down along the paths from all the wind.
I stopped to take this picture of the Cardinal.  It's not a very good picture because I had to zoom in, but was lucky to get even this because I can never get one to stay still long enough for a picture.
A little farther along I came across this little birds nest.
It's such a cute little thing.
I was walking along and up ahead a ways there were lots of geese on both sides of the path and a young woman would start to run past and then turn back and then try again.  When I got up to her she laughed and I laughed and asked if she were afraid of the geese.  She said she was, so I offered to walk along with her past them.  She said yes so I escorted her through the geese.  Once we were passed them she thanked me for being her protector and took off running.  I turned around, went back through the geese again (this time they hissed at me) and went along the path towards home.  I couldn't help but smile, thinking about someone being afraid of geese. :-)
I had a good walk and went 6.2 miles!

Once I got back home I had lunch and then did just a little of that work I wanted to get done today.  I'll save the rest for tomorrow because now I feel like finishing that knitting project I'm working on.

Hope your Wednesday is a happy one.
A smile from me to you.
Happyone :-)

  1. You're very brave! Geese can be nasty and very aggressive. Good for you for taking your walk today.

  2. Oh I'm very afraid of a gaggle of geese. Have you ever been attacked by one? Not fun. You're a good girl to accompany her past all danger.

Nasty weather down there...glad that you were able to get your walk in after all. Glad, too, that you can be reasoned with when the situation warrants. We can't have you blowing away!

  3. oh those geese can be buggers....they can nip
I thought you were going to say when you turned back around she was gone....you helped an angel..hee hee

  4. The weather this morning was pretty amazing. I couldn't believe how warm it was when I stepped outside. It was raining sideways. I'm so glad you waited and walked later on.

  5. When I saw your title I had to come right over ... I was worried about you :). Glad to hear you did still manage to get your walk in and I'm sure that young girl was glad you were out walking and could protect her. I have heard that geese can be very aggressive and nasty.

  6. Glad you were able to get out!
