Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

No work today

๐Ÿƒ     ๐Ÿƒ
A 6.2 mile walk for me this morning.
44 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds.
Started my walk on the roads behind my house, then through town,
down the road a ways and back to town, around the ball park loop
and one of the cemeteries and back home.

Met up with Kathy just as her walk was ending and she was getting back to her car.
We had a short chat.

Rabbits and deer around today.
I'm liking these nice cool mornings for walking.

A sunny day so I got three loads of laundry done this morning.
After lunch I started in on weeding the other front garden.
I got about a quarter of it done.

We went up to the building site late this afternoon.
No work being done today because the footings were setting before
the foundation work gets started tomorrow.
Sand and block were supposed to be delivered today
for tomorrows work but hadn't been delivered yet when we were there.

Home now enjoying a nice quiet evening.
Looking forward to my ice cream snack.
I'll do a little reading and then will knit while watching Netflix.
Lately we've been watching The Doctor Blake Mysteries.

This butterfly looks like he's been around a while.
A happy day to you.

"Beautiful and graceful, varied and enchanting, small but approachable,
butterflies lead you to the sunny side of life.
And everyone deserves a little sunshine."
~ Jeffrey Glassberg

  1. ...a day not filled with work is unusual for you!

  2. I'll have to check out the Doctor Blake Mysteries.

  3. I hope everything arrives in time. We are waiting for the demo on our bedroom/bath. I like to know what order it all goes in so I want everything to happen on time. I suppose you have to be patient when you are building an entire house, right?

  4. Love seeing your clothesline. I adore the smell of fresh laundry hung on the line. Especially sheets! Just the best smell!

  5. I love that first picture with the Golden Rod flowers and tall Ironweed, or is that purple flower Thistle? There are some pretty wildflowers in bloom now.

  6. I have not hung out a single load of clothes...maybe not since Roger came home. He is allergic to so much stuff that I was hoping drying them would make a difference and I am not sure it has helped at all.

With me when I am hanging out clothes, all seems right with the world for that little bit of time! It is something I have always enjoyed.

Oh, been meaning to tell you/ask you...do you have HULU? If so there is a show on there called The Indian Doctor...I really like it. Might be worth trying.

  7. Every photo looks so fresh and pretty! What a lovely place to take a walk!

  8. I still can't believe how you can tolerate it being so cold all the time. It's about 60ish now that summer has passed

  9. Sounds like a good day for you. I like the cool mornings for walking, too, but work interferes! When I was in Michigan, there is a paved path for bikes, runners, and walkers that passed within 150 yards of our condo. It runs for something like 27 miles. I enjoyed walking on it a bit. Next year, I will rent a bike and do some cycling on it.

  10. Hello, the first scene is so pretty. Love the butterfly. Sounds like you had a nice walk and a great day! Ending the day with ice cream is great to me. Enjoy your day!

  11. What a beautiful butterfly. It's got quite chilly here in the U.K., very autumnal xx

  12. I like the splash of pink in the first shot. Your temps are really dipping up there!

  13. Lovely photographs Karen.
My favourite is your first one.

    All the best Jan
