Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A bit of yellow

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
The temperature was 65 degrees this morning with a mix of sun and clouds for my walk today.

I walked through town and up a part of the way on Sale Barn Rd and then headed back to town.  Walked around the cemeteries and the loop behind the ball park.

Along Sale Barn a deer ran right up the middle of the street, up the hill till I couldn't see her anymore.  Luckily very few cars come down that way.

Over at the farm by the Drane house a new horse has arrived and he had his head covered.  I see horses like that once in a while and wonder why they cover their heads.  He looked my way when I talked to him and eventually walked closer to the fence.
Didn't see anyone else out walking.
Walked 5.8 miles.
The month of July has ended and during the month I found 65 cents.
2 quarters, 1 dime, and 5 pennies.

Today I baked a loaf of bread and chocolate chip cookies to add to the food I'm bringing my mom and dad.

After lunch I went outside and continued to do some more weeding.  As soon as I get done with all the gardens I have to start over again.  It never ends but it is nice to be outside.
The sun flower has finally started to bloom.  You can just see the yellow starting.
The sunflowers by the house are just about to flower too.  I can't believe how tall they are.
Here's looking at them out the dining room window.
Went to a wedding shower for Sarah, a young woman from church.  It was held in the friendship hall at church.  Sarah and her soon to be husband Joe are doing things the old fashioned way which is rare now a days.  They are getting married and then moving in together. : )
Had a lot of fun at the shower and Sarah got many nice gifts.
Kathy gave a thoughtful and cute gift with an object lesson.  It was basket with seven items in it.
Cookbook - You need the right ingredients for things to turn out.
Strainer - Strain out the issues that come between you.
Timer - Make time for each other.
Rolling Pin - Roll out the bumps.
Baster - Don't allow marriage to get dry and boring.
Spices - Spice things up.
Mallet - Keep it tender - hold no grudges.

Hope your day was a happy one.

Vee - Here's the Cucumber Salad recipe.
1/2 cup apple vinegar
1/3 cup oil
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon white pepper - I used black pepper
3 med cucumbers thinly sliced
Mix all ingredients and add the cucumbers.
Refrigerate at least an hour to blend the flavors

The bridal shower sounds fun - what a cute idea for giving gifts and important advice to the bride. Wish more people married before moving in - in my opinion, we need to go back to doing many things the "old fashioned way." I haven't been in blog land much this week so didn't know you were going to see your parents. I think that is so nice that you are going to visit and take goodies. Have a safe trip!

I've heard they sometimes cover horses' eyes with a fine mesh fabric when the flies are bad, to stop them bothering the horses' eyes.

That is a great wedding gift - very creative! I like it.

Getting married first, and THEN moving in together???? Is that even legal? ;^)
