Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Staying home today

Today and yesterday the weather was mild with the temperatures in the 50's for my morning walk. I took this picture walking along this morning just because I thought the trees looked pretty with their fall colors. No pictures of the town house because it's just been so dark to take any by the time we get over there, but they have started on the third floor! I'll get pictures this weekend if I don't go over there in the day. Yesterday was another Meals on Wheels day for me. I subbed for Lyle because he was volunteering at an election site. Janice, the new person I got at the beginning of the month is no longer on my route. I didn't find out why but usually when someone quits so soon it's because they don't like the food. I drove the Vette and it got really dirty. It rained just a little bit but enough to make the roads wet and in one of the neighborhoods they were doing construction and I had to drive through some mud. So it looks like I have to add washing the car to my to do list!
I finished reading The Careful Use of Compliments which is another book by Alexander McCall Smith and is the 4th in the series with Isabel Dalhousie. Isabel is a philosopher and editor of the Review of Applied Ethics and she gets a letter informing her that her services are no longer needed. I love how she gets her revenge!! :-) I enjoyed this book as well as all the others in the series.
Lots of leaves to rake out in the back yard. I'll be out there doing that tomorrow (maybe)!
Today is a stay at home day doing some cleaning and what ever else comes along. Just thought I'd take a break and write this post. Back to work I go!!

I love those trees. The Fall colors are so pretty.

We're having nice balmy weather here also. But still need rain. I got out and walked through the woods today. But I'll never be able to go the distances that you do. :-)

The Fall colors are so beautiful. I'm trying not to dwell on how bare the trees will be for the many months to come!

I love the titles of Smith's books. I always know what author you're talking about before you even mention his name.

That must be the first full shot of your back yard that I've seen. That is HUGE! - what a chore to rake! Don't over do it!
