Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Daisies and cone flowers

My cone flower garden and three sunflowers by the window.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿

No sunny morning walk again.  It was 64 degrees with a light misty rain.  Not enough to bring my umbrella and I was just a bit damp when I got home.

Walked around town and up Sale Barn Road. No cows in the field there yet.  I  Didn't go all the way to the end, only went about half way, turned around and went back to town and walked around there some more.

It is the town yard sale tomorrow and saw a few people out in their garages going through things getting ready.

No people out walking and didn't see any animals either.
I walked 6 miles.

Just some rain in the morning and then it was just cloudy.  Saw the sun for about 10 minutes.  It's a start.  : )

These are the daisies down at the end of my driveway.
Some more up by the house.
This is what I've knitted on the next scarf.
Started reading the book for next month's book club.  The book is due in a week and I can't renew it.  Shouldn't have any trouble finishing it.  The Aviator's Wife by Melanie Benjamin.  Only read 25 pages but I like it.
And now I think I'm going to go and read some of it.

Hope your having a happy day.

Flowers don't worry about how they're going to bloom.
They just open up and turn toward the light
and that makes them beautiful.

Vee - Mostly cleaning inside and during breaks from the rain I've picked some weeds.

More about the man who was killed by the car - He was walking with traffic but there are wide shoulders along the road.  The woman says she fell asleep at the wheel.
One good thing that came out of this is that the man was an organ donor and 6 people have a chance at a better life.

  1. Lovely flowers and images. Your scarf looks pretty! It is wonderful that 6 people's lives will be helped from the organ donor. I signed up to be a donor too. Happy weekend!

  2. Glad to hear that some good came of the man's misfortune. Love your quote about flowers. Your daisies grow in the bushes? Mine grew in the grass.
Great work on your scarves. You're making progress! MJ

  4. Pretty daisies! The scarf is really nice. Your knitting is always so beautiful. Well, you got a little peek of sun, anyway! We haven't had rain in several days here in southern Maryland. I may actually have to water my garden soon. I had gotten spoiled by not having to water it because we were getting so much rain. Hope you have a wonderful weekend :)

  7. Great flower pictures. God's handiwork is amazing!! Hope it clears up for the town yard sales. I'm sorry to hear about the gentleman who was killed. Indeed, his organs will make life easier for others. God bless him. You be careful when you're out and about! Have a blessed weekend. :)

  8. Hi Karen, Your daisies are looking great. Down at the end of your driveway ... It does look like the kind of display that causes me to stop and take a picture when I'm on my walks. :-) Sad story about the man who was walking and killed by a driver who fell asleep! We just never know what's ahead, do we? Wish you would send some of that rain out here ... we have been so dry ... our green is turning brown :-( I like it that the guy who drives the big mail truck and honks and waves at you is also named John. :-) Thanks for sharing and for your kind comments on my blog. Have a great weekend!

  10. What beautiful flowers you have around your house! I need you to come here and give us instructions on how to achieve that! :-) I know it has been some hard work keeping weeds out of the flower beds.

I've missed the blog about the man who lost his life due to a driver falling asleep at the wheel! That is terrible! It is such an important practice to walk facing the traffic. Even on our little-traveled street, when we walk, it is always facing the traffic! I cannot imagine the heartache his family - and the driver of the car - is feeling. Thoughts and prayers for everyone involved.

  12. Very cute scarf! Your lady friends will be happy to receive them :) We have a town-wide yard sale here also, each year in May. Those are so useful, and really so much better than each family having a random yard sale every few years. Great shopping!
