Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

A touch of snow

Yes, this is from this morning - a little snow fell last night.
☁     ☁     ☁     ☁

30 degrees this morning and a dusting of snow when I headed out for my walk. There was no breeze but it stayed cloudy and a time or two a few flakes were still about.

Walked around town once again and around the cemeteries and ball park loop.  Kathy was out walking again too.  She's been out there most days now.

A few rabbits were about as well as a couple of chipmunks by the cemeteries.  Saw the Killdeers again and deer prints in the snow.

I walked 6.2 miles.

We planned on bringing the tractor down to the house to pull up some shrubs and to dig up the ground for my garden but the weather didn't cooperate so we decided to drive down to LaVale for the day.  No snow down there.  By the time we got back home the snow was gone here too.

Went in and out of a bunch of stores.  One stop was at Kohl's and today I found an outfit that I liked for a real good price.  Didn't go looking for anything but when I found something I thought I'd better get it because it is so very hard to find something when I go out looking.
Another store we came out with some seeds.  Sunflowers for me and pumpkins for Ken.  Also got this little starter of basil.  It is in a little pail and fits on the window sill in the kitchen.  I think I'm going to paint the pail - it is silver now.
Just before coming home we stopped in at the library and I picked up the book selected for the book club meeting in May, a non-fiction book, Being Mortal by Atual Gawande.  Another book I got is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.  I've heard the series is very good and believe there are seven books in the series.

I made meatloaf, mashed potatoes and peas for supper and we will have the usual evening at home.  Predictable, but nice. : )

Hope your day as been a happy one.

  1. We actually had a dusting of snow this morning also!

When we lived in Hampshire County, LaVale was where I did a good deal of our shopping...either there or Winchester, VA. I wish there was a Kohl's closer. Like your outfit you found.

I put Being Mortal on my wish list today because I've noticed it popping up on so many blogs of late. I know it is a hard read, but one I want to make myself read.

Your supper this evening sounds wonderful...good comfort food!

  2. I just finished Outlander and loved it so much, I went and bought every single book in the series. I will start the second book in a few days. The outfit is SUPER cute!

Love your new outfit. It looks comfy and stylish. A winning combination in my book.
That's a neat little basil starting kit. I'm looking forward to basil season.

  5. Your dinner sounds delicious. We might get a flurry or two this weekend, but I've really seen enough winter for this year.

  8. Ahhh...just a dusting...the kind farmers like. Looks pretty even if it didn't last. Good plan...purchase the outfit you like when you can. Let me know how you like the Gabaldon book...I couldn't get through it myself.

  9. Predictable but nice -- that describes our very best evenings as well! I love it when we can stay HOME, sit together, watch something nice, talk. If that's boring then I love boring :)
